A third-person action game with RPG elements created by Guerilla Games, the studio known for Killzone series. The game is set in the distant future, where the world is ruled by intelligent animal-like forms that evolved from the machines responsible for the fall of an advanced human civilization centuries ago; the former rulers of the world survived, but their lifestyle was reduced to that of primitive, isolated tribes. The player takes the role of Aloy – a young girl, who seeks to find secrets of the ancients and discover her destiny. The heroine is not defenseless in this dangerous world. When fighting hostile machines she can count on her skills (developed individually) and loads of futuristic weapons, made up of parts of fallen enemies. The game is set in an open world, and the protagonist is free to choose both the order and method in which she undertakes missions. You can either openly confront your enemies or cunningly exploit their weaknesses.

A third-person action game in a quasi-historical setting, with a focus on online competition. The production was developed by the experienced studio Ubisoft Montreal, whose portfolio includes several cult series, including Far Cry and Assassin's Creed. In the game, three factions are pitted against each other: The Chosen, The Legions, and The Warborn, modeled after the Japanese samurai, European knights, and Scandinavian Vikings respectively. During the game, each party is represented by dozens of warriors, but only four of them are controlled by players and equipped with unique abilities that can turn the tide of the battle. The game puts a great emphasis on a realistic reproduction of individual warriors’ fighting styles, and skirmishes are mostly based on the ability to use melee weapons, proper tactics, and special abilities of heroes. The online mode is complemented by a story mini-campaign that serves as an introduction to the gameplay.
Sniper Elite 4

The fourth major installment in the popular tactical first-person shooter series by Rebellion, in which we assume the role of a trained sniper fighting on various fronts of the World War II. In Sniper Elite 4, we control Karl Fairburne, the protagonist of the previous games, who is sent from North Africa to the Apennine Peninsula. His mission is to cooperate with the Italian resistance in order to help the Allied forces that are pushing to the north. As far as gameplay mechanics are concerned, the game develops the ideas of its predecessor, and our task is to efficiently eliminate subsequent targets; how are we going to do it is entirely up to us. The game takes place on vast sandbox maps and, as usual, puts a great emphasis on realistic recreation of bullet behavior depending on the atmospheric conditions. The title is meant to be played solo or in cooperation mode, although it does not lack for other multiplayer features known from its predecessors.

A real-time strategy game by Polish studio Jujubee, in which you play as a leader of one of the 21st-century nations and do your best in order for the citizens to prosper. Mechanics-wise, Realpolitiks resembles the popular Europa Universalis series, but the game is set in modern times and takes into account the current specifics of politics and reality. The gameplay focuses mostly on managing the country in all the key fields and requires making many strategic and political decisions, which have huge consequences. You have to take care of such things as e.g. internal policy, diplomacy, economics, armed conflicts or espionage. The game emphasizes both the bright and the dark side of power, allowing you to choose your own path of achieving your goals and to decide between doing the right thing and using morally dubious methods.

A third-person action game developed by Team Ninja studio (known from titles like Dead or Alive and Ninja Gaiden) under the supervision of Koei Tecmo company. We play as a samurai fighting against various enemies, among which we will find both humans and monsters. We cut our way through the enemies not only with conventional weaponry, but also with special abilities of our hero and the magical power enchanted in his sword. Gameplay is a mix of games like Onimusha and Dark Souls. This means that the difficulty level is high and it forces the player to make use of different tactics, dodges, blocking and powerful, complex combos. Interestingly, game has been announced as early as 2005 and was supposed to be one of the launching titles for PlayStation 3. However, due to a few complications, the developed has been postponed, and the final game will make it now to next generation of consoles.
theHunter: Call of the Wild

The sequel to the 2009 hunting simulation game theHunter by Expansive Worlds. You play as a hunter traversing a large (about 50 square miles) area and completing various missions connected with hunting. In the game, you can encounter a variety of animals: from the main targets, deer and boars, through birds, to insects, which are cosmetic only, but add a touch of realism to the game. Like in the original installment, the game is accurate when it comes to animal behavior and the available range of weapons and hunting accessories. Unlike the previous game in the series, utilizing the free-to-play model, theHunter: Call of the Wild is a paid production, featuring a story campaign and several multiplayer modes.
Halo Wars 2

The continuation of the real-time science fiction strategy published in 2009 on Xbox 360 as a spin-off of the FPS franchise Halo. The second instalment is co-developed by 353 Industries, which took the series over from Bungie Software, and Creative Assembly primarily known for the extremely-popular strategy series Total War. The plot of Halo Wars opens a whole new chapter in the universe, and supplements the original title’s story. During gameplay, you lead Spartans, Warthogs, and other classic units from the Halo series, into a brutal war against a new deadly enemy. Just like its previous part, the title focuses on quick and engaging gameplay which takes place on huge maps. The game includes extensive multiplayer featuring dynamic PvP clashes.
Torment: Tides of Numenera

A computer RPG based on a tabletop roleplaying system called Numenera that combines elements of fantasy and science-fiction. The title was created by indie developer inXile entertainment, mostly known for the highly acclaimed remake of The Bard’s Tale and post-apocalyptic Wasteland 2. The game is a spiritual successor to Planescape: Torment - one of the classics of the genre, created by Black Isle Studio in 1999. The original game’s co-creator, Colin McComb, was the lead designer in this new project. The game is set in the distant future, where humanity created a society on a civilization level similar to the Middle Ages, albeit the setting features also rare examples of highly-advanced technology left after more advanced, extinct civilizations. Gameplay is based on the rules of the tabletop system, appropriately modified for the needs of a computer game. The game features isometric perspective and real-time action, although the battles themselves are turn-based, as well as a system of moral choices, which have impact on the world and reactions of non-player characters.

911 Operator is a game, a strategy-simulator developed by Polish studio Jutsu Games, which is a reiteration of a project which won the Indie Showcase competition held during Digital Dragons 2016. In 911 Operator you become a rescue service operator, and your job is to answer calls from people in danger. The story campaign takes place in 10 cities – you will face many different challenges; some of them amusing, some serious, some frustrating. During the game you have to give advice concerning administration of first-aid as well as choose the right number of people and equipment to send to the scene. A nice touch in the game is the fact that you can sometimes receive prank calls, which have to be recognized and ignored.
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands

The next installment in an action game series that originated in 2001. The series focuses on a famous American special squad known from the novels by Tom Clancy. The game was produced by a Parisian subsidiary of the Ubisoft company, also responsible for the previous installment, Future Soldier. The game is set in Bolivia, where a dangerous drug cartel spreads terror, violence, and lawlessness, unrestrained by the corrupted government authorities. Ghost Recon squad is sent into action in order to eliminate the key members of the criminal organization. Wildlands is revolutionary for the series, as it is the first time in the franchise's history when it takes the players into a vast, open world, which can be traversed on foot or by various vehicles – ground, aerial, or naval – resembling such franchises as Far Cry or Just Cause. The game was designed with both single player gameplay and multiplayer co-op for up to 4 players in mind.

Third-person perspective action game with RPG features and a sequel to the warmly-received production created by Cavia in 2010. The second installment was created by a different developer – Platinum Games known for the Bayonetta series. Despite that, Tarou Yokou, the creator of the first game, retained his position as the director of the project. The game takes place in distant future in which Earth was destroyed due to war against deadly machines. Humans, having found a safe haven on the Moon, created the limited YoRHa series of sapient androids to fight on their behalf. The YoRHa combined forces with androids of older generation and together they face the rebel machines. Two out of three protagonists of NieR Automata are completely new characters, but during the game player will also encounter characters from the first installment of the series as both stories are connected. Gameplay mechanics of the game are similar to ones in its predecessor and they offer an attractive combination of hack-and-slash, magic and RPG.

A spin-off entry in the popular platform game series, originally launched by Double Fine Productions in 2005, developed exclusively for Sony’s platform to make use of PlayStation VR sets. The game starts exactly where first Psychonauts has ended, acting is a bridge between it and the sequel. When the boss of Psychonauts, Truman Zanotto, gets kidnapped, a special team is sent to rescue him, including little Lili Zanotto and the protagonist of first game, ‘Raz’ Razputin, who is recognized as one of the most prominent PSI-cadets. In terms of gameplay, Psychonauts in the Rhombus of Ruin is following in its predecessor’s footsteps, adapting the well-known formula to modern virtual reality sets.
Mass Effect: Andromeda

The fourth part of the hugely popular action RPG game series in a space-opera setting. BioWare Montreal, the development studio that helped create the two previous installments took the reins of Mass Effect: Andromeda's development. The game's story is not associated with the trilogy about Commander Shepard's fight against the Reapers, offering instead a completely separate plot featuring new characters and locations. Using the proven pattern, the creators of Mass Effect: Andromeda put the focus on a spectacular TPP action experience and moral choices that have a direct impact on the course of events. The technical side of the game is based on the third-generation Frostbite engine, providing high-quality audiovisuals.
Resident Evil VII: Biohazard

Seventh major installment in the cult series of survival horrors created by Capcom and launched in year 1996 on the PlayStation console. Subsequent parts of this long-standing series concentrate on a battle the humanity wages against a deadly virus which transforms those it infects into bloodthirsty monsters. The players accompany several characters who appeared in various installments of Resident Evil over the years as well as in many side installments. The game, being faithful to tradition, shows the action in third person perspective and the gameplay is based on exploration, fighting enemies and solving occasional logical puzzles. The game has a horror atmosphere which, across subsequent installments in the series, was gradually reduced in favor of action elements. Resident Evil 7 combines the best aspects of the old and new installments and is the first main Resident Evil game created for the eight generation consoles.

A first-person perspective survival horror inspired by such classic titles as Alan Wake, Silent Hill, and Alone in the Dark. Husk is produced by Polish studio UndeadScout, supported by IMGN.PRO – the creators of the successful horror Kholat. The title takes you to a mysterious town of Shivercliff, the destination of the game's main hero – Matthew Palmer. After a train wreck, he tries to find his family, which requires delving into the town’s dark secrets. Shivercliff resembles the other famous digital ghost town - Silent Hill, where nightmare interweaves with reality. During the journey Matthew discovers his own dark side. In Husk you see the action through the eyes of the hero and gameplay concentrates on exploration and puzzle solving, which unravels subsequent plot elements. The game features combat with monstrous enemies, during which the protagonist uses firearms and his own fists. The game is powered by Unreal Engine 4, but the visuals – typically for horror games – are kept in dark colors.
John Wick Chronicles

A first-person shooter developed with VR headsets in mind. John Wick Chronicles is based on an American action movie from 2014. The virtual adaptation of Chad Stahelski’s and David Leitch’s film was published by Starbreeze AB, the team known for such titles as The Darkness, The Chronicles of Riddick, and Payday. The protagonist is a “retired” murderer for hire, John Wick, played by Keanu Reeves in the movie. A Russian Mafioso messes with the hero and deprives him of the last reminder of his deceased wife. Wick embarks on a merciless vendetta during which blood of criminals flows like a river. While playing, we traverse various locations, interact with characters, and, first and foremost, take part in dynamic shootouts where our survival depends on our ability to avoid enemy fire and use cover. John Wick Chronicles requires a VR headset to work and supports most of the popular devices of this type.

A combination of adventure and arcade games, created by an independent developer known as Infinite Ammo. The player assumes the role of Mae - a cat with paranormal abilities. The protagonist quits her studies and returns to her hometown - Possum Springs, in order to have some quality time with her old friends. The place has fallen into decline since the last mine in town was closed, because the inhabitants have been left without work. What is worse however, is that a neighboring forest has apparently kept some dark secret concealed. The plot serves the role of an parallel to human existence, with themes such as death, transience of all things or longing for certain moments from the past elaborated on throughout the story. The player is required to explore (by jumping across platforms mostly) a unique in-game environment, solve simple puzzles connected to it, talk to NPCs, as well as engage in joyful activities, such as playing the guitar or having fun with the in-game friends. What distinguishes Night in the Woods from other titles, are its visuals based on an original art style - those were crafted by Scott Benson. The unique soundtrack on the other hand, was created by Alec Holowka.

A narrative-focused point-and-click adventure game and the debut project from the independent Dutch studio, Wispfire. Inspired by real events, the game is set in alternative version of the 19th century in which all western countries have been united under the banner of an empire known as the Protectorate. Players take the role a man named Devan Rensburgh, who seeks the truth of his origins while on his journey to Western Colonies of the empire. The protagonist ends up on board of the HLV Herald, a ship that is a true melting pot of cultures, and is forced to make several crucial decisions that will shape his future from now on. The game mechanics of Herald derive a lot from classic adventure games and focus based on exploration and numerous dialogues with NPCs. Furthermore, the game draws some inspiration from Telltale Games’ productions, focusing, instead of puzzles, on narration, character development and moral choices.

An original simulator of a martian planetary rover, developed by Bohemia Interactive, the Czech developer team also responsible for the helicopter simulator, Take on Helicopters, and two famous military simulation franchises - Operation Flashpoint and ArmA. The game aims at realistically representing a research mission on Mars and simulating the behavior of martian rovers, including an extensive damage model. Take on Mars offers two game modes. During the campaign, we supervise a space agency, and our task is to explore Mars, conduct research on new technologies, and construct more advanced equipment while keeping an eye on the agency's budget. Single missions focus exclusively on surface exploration and a set of specific tasks prepared by the authors. The game is complemented by a powerful set of modding tools that allow us to create our own adventures, vehicles, and locations.

Homebound is a VR adventure game that uses Unreal Engine 4. We play as an astronaut who is currently based on a space station when a catastrophe happens. Firstly, we will have to figure out what to do on the Earth's orbit. After that, we will have to face the dangers of entering the atmosphere. The last thing that awaits us is the emergency landing. In terms of mechanics, Homebound is action-adventure game that tests our cleverness and our reflexes. We will have to explore our surroundings, solve simple logical puzzles, and test ourselves in arcade challenges. The game is presented from a first-person perspective. Finishing one of Homebound's segments takes from a dozen or so minutes to one hour. Each of them can be played repeatedly, so that we can try to beat our friends or ours highest score. Additionally, every scenario is filled with hidden secrets and items. Finding all of the possible ways of killing the astronaut is also quite entertaining.

An arcade submarine simulator with crew management elements. The game was developed by an independent team known as Arachnid Games. The story of Diluvion takes place in distant future, where an apocalyptic flood has forced humanity to colonize the ocean depths. The gameplay is focused around exploration of a marine world of a considerable size, completing various tasks, and combat with encountered opponents. Our travels often require the use of a sonar, which helps in navigating dark areas, as well as ranged weapons in form of torpedoes or even cannons. We’ve also received access to a crew management module – throughout our journeys, the individual crew members gather experience, acquiring new skills over time. For example, an experienced coxswain offers better maneuverability, while a talented canoneer is much more accurate.

An adventure game developed by PaperSeven. The plot was written by Oliver Reid-Smith (the creator of the script for the well-received The Room), and it focuses on the relations of orphaned siblings: Scarlett and her younger brother, Finn. When the girl enters adolescence, their relations worsen. While traveling on a train, the protagonists meet a mysterious creature that lets them look at their past from a different perspective. The gameplay in Blackwood Crossing is based on exploration of the environment, having conversations with non-player characters, and making various kinds of decisions. The choices we make not only have an influence on subsequent stages of the story but also its climax. The game is also enriched by simple logic puzzles. The title is powered by Unity Engine technology and boasts high-quality three-dimensional cartoon graphics.
