Darksiders Warmastered Edition
Action 22 November 2016
A refreshed edition of Darksiders – an action-adventure game from 2010, prepared mainly with eight generation consoles in mind (PlayStation 4 and Xbox One). We assume the role of War, one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. As a result of a conspiracy, he initiates the end of the world prematurely, with a punishment of removing most of his powers and exiling him to Earth. The protagonist decides to get revenge on the culprits, fighting hordes of demons, which are in abundance on the destroyed planet that our hero traverses in search for the perpetrators. The mainstay of the game is the dynamic combat, in which we use various types of weaponry and special attacks. The hero traverses large locations with a partially open structure, occasionally solving riddles to get further ahead. As the game progresses, War reclaims lost abilities, and acquires better weapons. The visual changes are the biggest mainstay of Darksiders Warmastered Edition. The game now runs in native 1080p, the animations are more fluid, the quality of shadows and graphical effects have been improved, while the texture resolution is now twice higher.
Half-Life 2: Episode Three
The third expansion for Half-life 2, sequel to one of the most acclaimed first-person shooters, developed by Valve and released in 2004. Initially, Half-Life 2: Episode Three was supposed to be issued directly after the previous two episodes, released in years 2006 and 2007, but the project was canceled for unknown reasons. Story-wise, it was to be a continuation of the events presented by its predecessors and to bring a closure to many unresolved plots from the entire trilogy (e.g. events concerning the legendary Borealis ship and the technology found therein, all of which were to be destroyed by Gordon Freeman, the main protagonist). At the end of Episode Two, Freeman and his companion, Alyx, fly to Antarctica to find out what happened in the base located therein and why was it attacked by the Combine. Episode Three was supposed to provide explanations.
H1Z1: King of the Kill
An MMO shooter with survival elements, set in a world after a zombie outbreak, developed by the Daybreak Game Company studio. The title is one of the two alternative versions of the survival sandbox game formerly known as H1Z1 that was divided into two independent productions during the early access stage. Unlike H1Z1: Just Survive, that remained faithful to the developers' original concept, H1Z1: King of the Kill focuses on dynamic action and players competing in one of several PvP modes, spearheaded by the Battle Royale mode, well-known from the original game. The game features also some elements of survival: before the struggle begins the players get a little time to gather resources and create equipment that they will use to fight their opponents. However, in contrast to the original game these elements were marginalized.

In Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun, the action is presented from a camera placed high above the characters’ heads which provides us with a good grasp of the environment and lets us efficiently issue orders to our agents. Since they perform risky tasks on the enemy territory, it is necessary to stay out of guards’ sight and act stealthily. Maps were designed in a way that allows any mission to be completed in various ways. To succeed, the player always has to cunningly use the unique skills of every character and devise plans that involve strict cooperation within the party.
The third installment in a war-themed RTS game series, whose previous editions were released in the years 2003-2007. The game was developed by Russian studio Nival Interactive, also known for Rage of Mages, Silent Storm, and the fifth installment in the cult Heroes of Might & Magic series. In contrast to its predecessors, Blitzkrieg 3 focuses mainly on multiplayer gameplay and is available as a free-to-play game with microtransactions. However, the developers did not forget completely about enthusiasts of solo playing – they can buy a single player campaign as a paid DLC. Gameplay mechanics follows well-proven solutions, whereas changes brought by this new installment mostly boil down to audio-visual improvements. Fully 3D graphics is much more detailed, there are new effects of explosions, as well as better-looking and fully destructible environment.

Apart from typical RPG story missions, an essential part of Albion Online are duels between players in PvP mode. The game’s world is split into 800 territories that can be conquered by players’ guilds, seeking valuable resources. Real-time combat uses mechanics typical of hack-and-slash games. While you are offline your territories are protected by a magic aura, so that battles can be fought only between online players. The game features a unique microtransaction system – a commission is drawn from transactions between players.
A survival simulator that emphasizes multiplayer. It is the first major production by Bankroll, an Australian developer studio. The gameplay mechanics do not deviate from the majority of similar games, especially the bestselling Rust. The player character finds himself at a vast desert plain and his task is to survive in this hostile environment. The game focuses primarily on survival aspects and the most important thing is to ensure that the protagonist has his basic needs satisfied and protected from such hazards as hunger, thirst, fatigue, radiation, or changing weather conditions. From among other titles in the genre, Hurtworld is distinguished by a protection system that evens out the chances of beginners and seasoned players. Another noteworthy feature is the punishment system — should a character who has killed many rivals die, he loses more valuable equipment than the others.

An MMORPG set in the Medieval Ages, developed by independent Polish studio Black Eye Games. Gloria Victis was designed as an alternative to many similar Asian MMO games, which usually fail to represent the actual feel of the Medieval period and its socio-economic realities. The game is set on the continent devastated by a long war and crusades, where the leaders of the most powerful nations still fight for dominance. Your character is thrown in the middle of that conflict. Although the hero will belong to one of four archetypes, the character progression offers a large degree of freedom (no classes or professions). As you play, you get to explore the vast world, tale part in various missions, and fight opponents with a wide arsenal of weapons characteristic for the period. Much emphasis was put on the complex economy, crafting system with 10 specializations, and social features, e.g. creating player guilds.

The game offers several diverse locations, where you can hurt enemies using elements of environment, such as scaffolds, or running trucks, to add to the base moveset. The game’s visuals are minimalistic – the environments comprise of simple, untextured geometric shapes featuring little to no detail. The game offers several modes of local and online competitive multiplayer (solo or in a team). You can also compete against AI or play in the sandbox mode.
An online battle game that combines the features of MOBA and action genres. Battlerite was developed by Swedish studio Stunlock, the creators of Bloodline Champions and Dead Island: Epidemic. The game is focused on fast, intensive battles of two small teams of players. Each participant controls one character selected from a roster of unique warriors. During the game the protagonists are gaining experience and they unlock new abilities. In difference to classic MOBA games like Dota, Battlerite lacks any bases, towers or allied units controlled by artificial intelligence. Instead of that, the title provides open arenas on which the gameplay is focused only on direct deathmatches. The game offers a highly action-based combat system. The action is presented from a top-down perspective and the mechanics are inspired by shooters and other action games. The crowd present on the arenas is an interesting addition – gaining its favor provides various rewards.
