Developed by Vicarious Visions studio from the USA, a remake of the first installment of the Crash Bandicoot franchise. Once again, you play as a bandicoot named Crash, whose objective is to stop doctor Neo Cortex from raising an army of obedient, humanoid animals. Crash Bandicoot HD is a classic 3D platform game, so gameplay consists in going through diverse locations, avoiding numerous traps, and fighting enemies by hitting them with the spin attack or by jumping on their heads. Once you run out of a limited number of lives, you'll have to start a level all over again. However, the title features a system of checkpoints, diverse secrets, and power-ups granting temporary bonuses.

The game takes place not only in the typical for the series fairy-tale land, but also in the alternative version of the real world. In terms of mechanics, Super Mario Odyssey is a natural evolution of the series' previous games. We get a 3D platformer where we explore various locations using Mario's acrobatic abilities, gather items, avoid traps, and fight with the encountered enemies and bosses. Super Mario Odyssey comes with some new elements, like bigger locations or a more sandbox-like nature of the game that gives us more freedom of exploration. Mario's hat also has some interesting properties and gives us access to many unique abilities.

Cuphead
Cuphead

Arcade September 2017

A two-dimensional action game with designs resembling old cartoon movies, which is a debut production of StudioMDHR, an independent developer. In Cuphead, we assume the role of a gambling addict that loses his soul to the devil during one of his sessions. To retrieve it, he needs to work off its equivalent. When it comes to mechanics, the game is a 2D fighting game with a degree of platforming elements – we participate in continuous 1v1 fights, taking place on special 2D arenas. During combat we can make use of a wide range of weaponry, as well as several outfits bestowing us with special powers. Each of the enemies has his own fighting style, which needs to be countered in order for us to win. In opposition to the genre classics, our enemies are controlled by dynamic AI, making the game tough to beat and less predictable in case of replays.

Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown
Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown

Arcade 2018

An arcade flight simulator and continuation of the popular series published by Bandai Namco. Like its predecessors, Ace Combat 7 is set in alternative timeline, in which there are different countries, and humans have constructed unique flying units. Game focuses on the story, which we learn both through events during missions and many cutscenes. The gameplay is mostly arcade, with only a few simulation’s features. Due to that, realism has to move over and make space for dynamic and eye-catching sky fights, including battles with powerful bosses. Each available plane flies slightly differently, resulting in a more varied experience. Ace Combat 7 offers a story campaign for one player and multiplayer mode. Developers made use of Unreal Engine 4 and also added support of PlayStation VR goggles.

The Last Night

Arcade 2018

A cyberpunk platformer with adventure elements. Developed by Odd Tales, this is the first commercial production which is a further development of a free title that has won Cyberpunk Jam 2014. The action of The Last Night is embedded in a futuristic, open city divided into four sections of different looks and general atmosphere, which influences gameplay. You assume the role of a spy hired by private employers who give you such tasks as stealing cars or killing particular people. The city is filled with cameras and patrols, so in order to succeed, you need to sneak, avoid raising suspicion, look for alternative paths, and hack various computer networks. Chatting with NPCs is also an efficient way of getting the job done – the characters dynamically react to the player’s actions.

Terraria: Otherworld
Terraria: Otherworld

Arcade TBA

Terraria: Otherworld is the second part of the popular sandbox platform game, developed by Andrew Spinks and his independent studio Re-Logic. In the game, referred to as “two dimensional Minecraft”, we are given the ability to shape a randomly generated world without restrictions and to create a number of useful tools, utility objects and structures via its crafting system. Terraria 2 has a similar, old-school layout and similar mechanics as the original, but the game features also a huge number of changes and innovations that were not implemented by the author in the first installment of the series. First of all, players were given an infinite number of worlds at their disposal, each representing a different biome, e.g. woodland, arctic, desert, or lunar. Furthermore, character development system, object finding and creation, as well as the interface of the game, were modified. The game traditionally focuses on cooperation of many players, what allows them to collectively raise buildings or fight encountered monsters.

Sonic Forces
Sonic Forces

Arcade December 2017

Another installment in the popular platform game series by SEGA. The game was developed by Sonic Team, the creators of Sonic Generations and Sonic Colors. Once again, you play as the eponymous super-fast hedgehog, and your task is to lead the resistance and face the evil Doctor Eggman and his army of giant robots. Sonic Forces utilizes the third person perspective. Like in the previous games of the franchise, you traverse the maps full of obstacles and enemies, and collect golden rings. The biggest attraction of the game is undoubtedly the most characteristic feature of the brand - the speed. The protagonist moves so fast that sometimes you may not be able to discern what is happening on screen. The game also features an option to summon alternative versions of Sonic and to control several of them at once — it is the only way to deal with challenges, which are too much for just one Sonic.

For most of the time, action is presented in third-person perspective, however, the game features also also some classic 2D levels. Each location is filled with traps and opponents, but also various power-ups that can boost your score or protect you from damage.

Oddworld: Soulstorm

Arcade 2017

Oddworld: Soulstorm is another game in the popular platform-adventure game series developed by Oddworld Inhabitants Inc. and Frima Studio. The game is a direct sequel to Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty, a 2013 remake of Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee, and is loosely based on Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus. Once again, we control Abe, a friendly Mudokon who managed to escape from the Glukkon's grip, and now leads three hundred of rescued Mudokons into the unknown. Our hero and his companions travel across the endless desert and face shortages of food and water. They find relief in a certain addicting brew. Gameplay in Oddworld: Soulstorm did not change that much since the first 2013 New ‘n’ Tasty. It is still a 2.5D platform-adventure game where we have to rely on Abe's and his fellow Mudokons' abilities. The game, however, is a bit darker in terms of stylistics.

Chasm

Arcade 22 August 2017

A two-dimensional arcade platformer with RPG features from Discord Games studio. Chasm tells a story of a soldier who returns home after a long war. He arrives in an abandoned mining town and discovers most of its inhabitants have disappeared after entering a mysterious temple, deep down beneath the village. Our hero decides to stop the awakened evil, rescue the town’s inhabitants, and then safely return to his home. The game borrows many features from classics like Metroid or Castlevania, as well as The Legend of Zelda and Diablo series. The game's metroidvania-inspired premise is mixed with RPG mechanics, meaning that the hero can obtain new equipment and develop his skills. As we play, we must avoid traps, solve environmental puzzles and – obviously – fight with generic enemies and powerful bosses.
