Top-downPC Video Games

Video Games Encyclopedia by Gamepressure.com

PC (Personal computer) - one of the most popular home platforms and the only one which doesn’t offer playing video games as its main purpose. PC was born in the 1970s, but it is impossible to give an exact moment of its birth or even a name of its creator. However, IBM is the one who gave computers their present shape, using, at the beginning of the 1980s, an idea of open architecture – which is today one of the most important differences between computers and consoles.

The foundations of PC as a gaming platform are currently systems of digital distribution of video games (Steam, Origin, Uplay) and MMO games that mostly work in f2p (free-to-play) model.

Serial Cleaner (PC)
Serial Cleaner (PC)

Action 14 July 2017

An oldschool 2D action game with stealth elements and a gangster atmosphere, created by Polish studio iFun4all. Serial Cleaner takes place in America of the 1970s and you play as a seemingly ordinary citizen, who's really the eponymous “cleaner,” specializing in cleaning crime scenes—getting rid of the bodies, evidence, and blood. The missions in the game are based on real crime scenes from the 1970s, and your task is to efficiently clean them without getting noticed by the policemen patrolling the area. The game gives you complete freedom and rewards you for exploring, making quick decisions and experimenting with different methods of solving a problem. Your task is made slightly easier by the fact that the policemen are a rather lazy and not quite clever bunch, and they don't pay much attention to their duties.

A strategy game set in a science-fiction world in which we supervise an extraterrestrial colony. It has been developed by debuting independent studio Ludeon, established by a former employee of Irrational Games, who previously worked on the Bioshock series. Police Stories (PC)

Action December 2017

A tactical top-down shooter, and at the same time a debut of Mighty Morgan. The main protagonists – John Rimes and Rick Jones – are both police operatives specializing in high-risk undertakings, such as rescuing hostages and infiltrating gang hideouts. Since it takes the enemies 2-3 shots to kill the main protagonist, players have to exercise caution and think on their feet. What makes it all more difficult, the main protagonists have to obey police procedures, thus it is a high priority to apprehend the suspects without resorting to violence. Sometimes, however, the situation leaves you no other choice. The gameplay is even more thrilling thanks to the sightline system – our protagonists cannot see what is behind the closed doors until they open them. Apart from the single player, where players preferring more solitary gaming experience have to rely on an AI partner, Police Stories offers the players a chance to join their forces in finishing all of the available missions in a co-op mode. The game also features two-dimensional pixel art visuals.

Reservoir Dogs: Bloody Days is a top-down shooter based on Quentin Tarantino's movie Reservoir Dogs from 1992. The game tells the story of a group of criminals who do bold heists together. Mr. Blond, Mr. Orange Mr. Pink, Mr. White, Mr. Bronze, and Mr. Blue are all part of that group. Their actions are always brutal and leave a trail of dead bodies in their wake. We can take up to three criminals for a mission. We control each of them individually, but, thanks to the Time Back mechanics, we can go back in time and control another character. At the same time, the criminal we controlled previously does the same moves as we did when we controlled him. Gameplay focuses on doing the same actions from a perspective of a couple of characters in away that all of their moves combine into a single coordinated action. Before we get a satisfying end result, we will have to more than once redo the heist and modify our character's actions.
