The Last Guardian (PS4)
Adventure 06 December 2016
Third-person action adventure game created by the ex-members of Team Ico, led by Fumito Ueda. Previously, the studio had made their name known by giving us two of the most original and highest ranking titles ever to be released on PlayStation 2: Shadow of the Colossus and Ico. Their new game retains similar artwork style and equally unique atmosphere. You play as a young boy trying to escape the guards pursuing him. However, it is not him, but a giant, griffin-like creature named Trico, who is the central character in this story. The little protagonist is able to climb, jump, and squeeze through holes between rocks, but in some cases he needs help from the griffin, who can remove larger obstacles or carry the boy into seemingly inaccessible places. The authors put much emphasis on the character's interactions with Trico and the creature’s artificial intelligence, as he has his own individual character and reacts differently depending on the situation.

Yooka-Laylee is a 3D platformer developed by Playtonic Games, a studio created by the experienced developers who played a crucial role in the development of Rare's biggest games. Arcade 16 August 2016
An experimental, three-dimensional platformer offering an abstract, alluring game world. Bound is the third project developed by Plastic - a Polish team popular for a dark adventure game Datura and an artistic logic game Linger in Shadows. Similar to these titles, Bound was created exclusively for PlayStation 4 and it was developed in cooperation with Sony Santa Monica (the God of War series). Although the game is hard to classify, calling it simply a three-dimensional platformer is a relatively accurate description. Special emphasis was placed on puzzle solving, which is done together with other players. When creating the game world, the developers were inspired by works of abstract art from the beginning of the twentieth century - the player observes lively colors contrasting with one another, as well as simple blocks the virtual environments are made of. Additionally, certain elements of the in-game world are generated procedurally. Motion-capture techniques with the participation of Maria Udod (a professional, Russian dancer) were used in creation of character animations for the game.
Tearaway Unfolded (PS4)
Arcade 08 September 2015
An enhanced edition of the 3D platform game by Media Molecule, originally released in 2013 for PlayStation Vita. Tearaway Unfolded is set in a magical world made entirely of paper. The game's protagonist is a cute girl with a headdress — a courier, who has to deliver an important message, and your task is to help her. You travel through dangerous locations and not only control the girl, but also influence the surroundings in various way. Many of these actions have been developed with PlayStation 4 pad in mind, like those involving the use of the touchscreen and the gyroscope. The visuals resemble the LittleBigPlanet series, the iconic production by Media Molecule.
Sonic Forces (PS4)
Another installment in the popular platform game series by SEGA. The game was developed by Sonic Team, the creators of Sonic Generations and Sonic Colors. Once again, you play as the eponymous super-fast hedgehog, and your task is to lead the resistance and face the evil Doctor Eggman and his army of giant robots. Sonic Forces utilizes the third person perspective. Like in the previous games of the franchise, you traverse the maps full of obstacles and enemies, and collect golden rings. The biggest attraction of the game is undoubtedly the most characteristic feature of the brand - the speed. The protagonist moves so fast that sometimes you may not be able to discern what is happening on screen. The game also features an option to summon alternative versions of Sonic and to control several of them at once — it is the only way to deal with challenges, which are too much for just one Sonic.
Snake Pass (PS4)
Arcade 28 March 2017
An action platform game with logical puzzles. It was developed by British studio Sumo Digital. The title is based on a prototype created by Seba Liese during a Game Jam. Snake pass tells a story about the adventures of a snake and his friend, a hummingbird. Together they must find keys to the magical gates that provide magical power to the Harmony Foothills. They are doing it in order to defeat a mysterious intruder who threatens the lives of the inhabitants of the realm. The game takes place in a three-dimensional environment and the player takes control of the aforementioned snake. The protagonist’s movement was recreated in a pretty realistic way. It means that, for example, he cannot jump, but instead he crawls along the ground, wraps around objects and swims. All of these actions must be used in order to defeat various obstacles and to find well hidden collectibles. In some situations the friendly hummingbird helps the snake by catching him by his tail and transporting to seemingly unavailable places.
The Watchmaker (PS4)
Adventure 30 June 2017
A steampunk action-adventure game with logic features. The title was developed by the independent studio Micropsia Games from Chile. The Watchmaker takes place inside a giant clock tower, and during the game the player assumes the role of a guard named Alexander. One day, a sabotage takes place in the tower, disrupting the flow of time and causing the protagonist to grow old extremely fast. In order to avoid death before his time, he must travel through subsequent sections of the tower to find and defeat the person responsible for the sabotage. He must also restore the proper flow of time. The game combines features of an adventure game, a 3D platform game and a logic game. The main focus was placed on solving various environmental riddles, but the game also contains typical action sequences and boss fights, during which the protagonist uses a variety of useful gadgets. The fact that the protagonist is getting older was used as a creative replacement for the classic health bar.

When it comes to gameplay mechanics, the game is not much different from other titles in the series, still being a third-person action-adventure game. You play as various LEGO characters who have to stop evil Lord Vortech from annihilating humanity. The game is available for purchase in several editions devoted to different franchises. The mechanics of Skylanders Imaginators are similar to the ones from the previous installments of the series. It is a typical action game focused on exploration, getting through obstacles, collecting items and fighting enemies while occasionally solving riddles. The way of interacting with the toys hasn’t changed as well – what’s more, the game is fully compatible with models released for the previous installments. Among the most important new features there is the possibility to design new characters (thanks to the toy called Creation Crystal) and completely new figurines from the Skylanders Sense group, among which there are 31 warriors.

Fortunately, a fast-growing plant helps him get around this fragmented world. The protagonist can affect the direction of the plant’s growth in order to make bridges across the islands. Gameplay is based on an elaborate climbing system, which lets you control each of the hero’s limbs separately, therefore he can grab almost any element of environment. The game sports fully 3D graphics with simple, yet attractive artwork full of bright pastel colors.
Afro Samurai 2: Revenge of Kuma (PS4)
Action 22 September 2015
The continuation of the console hit titled Afro Samurai, based on a manga written and illustrated by Takashi Okazaki. The indie studio Redacted, established by David Robinson, the co-creator of the original game, is responsible for the development of the production. The storyline involves a completely fresh story, focused on the character of Kuma. During the playthrough we have the opportunity to play the roles of several, diverse characters, including Afro, who was also featured in the previous installment of the production. When it comes to the mechanics the game, it is still a rather typical hack’n’slash, which revolves around brutal and spectacular duels, fought with deadly, samurai weapons. The continuation does not lack in the terms of standard elements of the series, including platformer elements and an advanced combat system, which allows the player to perform extremely impressive moves and precise sword strikes. The visuals have been kept in the same style as those of the predecessor, however, unlike in the original Afro Samurai, the sequel allows us to enjoy the game in co-op mode.
