The Long Journey Home (PS4)
A science-fiction sandbox action game with roguelike and strategy game elements, and the debut production from one of Daedalic Entertainment's subsidiaries. The Long Journey Home tells the story of a prototype spaceship, the first one in history to be equipped with an FTL drive. During its maiden flight, an accident happens which results in the ship being thrown into an uncharted region of the galaxy; the player’s task, as the ship’s captain, is to find a way home. The game allows us to freely explore a vast, randomly generated chunk of the cosmos — we are the ones to plan the route and to choose tasks as well as the means to perform them. While playing, we will have to gather resources, fight alien races, search for artifacts of long-dead civilizations, and cope with various random events. The title also features an extensive conversation module and a separate character development system for every crew member.
A competitive free-to-play multiplayer game that combines the characteristics of a space simulation, action game, and strategy. It was created by Yager Development, a team known for the FPS Spec Ops: The Line. The game takes you into the future, putting you amid a heated rivalry between powerful factions that aim to colonize space. As a mercenary you pick up various jobs from whoever pays the most. Gameplay focuses on battles fought between the players both in space and in the atmosphere of nearby planets. One of the title’s characteristic features, is the fact that instead of a fast and agile fighter you command a massive space dreadnought and are given the control of every element of your vessel: starting from individual mechanical parts through weapons to her crew. You can also assembly squads of smaller ships and command them in battles. Dreadnought boasts excellent graphics that translate into great visual experience.
No Man's Sky (PS4)
Action 09 August 2016
A science-fiction, sandbox action game with a focus on multiplayer mode. It was created by Hello Games, company known for the colorful arcade production Joe Danger. The game is set in the distant future in the yet uncharted parts of the cosmos, and the gameplay is presented in two forms. We explore the successive corners of the universe piloting a spacecraft, like we do in typical space-sim productions. Upon landing on a newly discovered planet, the game switches to first-person view. The authors emphasize the complete freedom given to the player during exploration. While visiting places featuring different animals, plants, or even varying composition of the planet's atmosphere, we can focus on exploration, acquisition of raw materials, or the combat against various predators. An important element of the game is the system of procedural generation of worlds, which creates their virtually every element, from the smallest features of the surface to the entire star systems and galaxies.

The ship is then supposed to fly and land safely on a moon of the Kerbin planet. The spaceship is built from various elements - each of them affects it in flight and serves a specific purpose. Thanks to a realistic flight model, the player is capable of observing the effects of their work and monitoring a set of parameters describing the ship. The title is described as a new kind of documentary film, featuring only uncomplicated mechanics that fit more to virtual reality than a fully-fledged video game. The events are seen from a first-person perspective, and the players have the full freedom to look around their surroundings. The camera switches to TPP mode only during combat. During the takeoff and landing, we can operate on-board equipment (however, the procedures has been simplified). While on the Moon, we can take a walk, and conduct simple research. Arcade 04 August 2015
A two-dimensional shoot ‘em up arcade game developed by the 17-bit studio. In GALAK-Z, we assume the role of a space fighter pilot who has to face enemies armed to the teeth and hostile environmental conditions. Although the general gameplay premise isn’t really different from the genre’s standards, the developers introduced several innovations. The first is the control model based on two analog sticks that we use to move and shoot, while special attacks are assigned to gamepad buttons. Moreover, the game world is a one huge open level with smaller or bigger asteroids, each having its own network of caves where we can hide from enemy fire. When designing levels, ships, and the available characters, the developers took inspiration from the classics of anime and the science fiction TV series from the ‘70s and ‘80s.
