A hybrid of adventure game, platform game and economic strategy, whose main theme is... dying. In Spiritfarer, the player takes on the role of a girl who, like a mythical Charon, takes the dead to the underworld on her boat. The production was developed by the Canadian independent studio Thunder Lotus Games.

A point-and-click adventure game, in which the players follow a man called Harry while he travels through a hostile world searching for his beloved one. Punch Punk Games’ work stands out from similar games thanks to its style, inspired by medieval codes and art of Hans Holbein and Albrecht Dürer.

An episode-broken 2D adventure game enveloped in an atmosphere of anxiety and loneliness. We play the role of a supplier of antique furniture and help him to fulfill his last order. We travel through abandoned areas in search of adventures and meet a handful of unusual characters.

Roguelike in a westerne climate, made in the form of a dynamic twin-stick shooter. In Colt Canyon, we play the role of a hero, who wanders through randomly generated levels to save his partner and return home safely.

9.0 Game Score

A riot simulation strategy game. Riot is the debut production from Stimunation, an Italian studio whose lead designer is a former cutscene producer at Valve. The action of Riot takes place in modern times. The society is forced to resort to mass rioting because of an economic crisis. The developers prepared an extensive campaign that lets us take part in the most famous riots of the recent years either as the protesting crowd or the police that try to restore order.

9.0 Game Score

A 2D arcade game with platformer elements, and the debut of the Canadian indie developer Astro Base. During the gameplay we step into the shoes of one of the two operators of a small space station, and it is our task to defend it against consecutive waves of enemy attacks. The missions are played out in randomly generated locations, and the players need to navigate the corridors of the station in order to reach the various control consoles that are located inside them.

9.0 Game Score

A two-dimensional arcade game developed with multiplayer in mind. Duck Game started on Ouya console, and then was brought to other platforms. The title offers intensive gameplay for up to four players taking control of cartoonish ducks on closed arenas, picking us various weapons like machine guns, shotguns and flamethrowers.

Humorous point & click adventure game, referring to the works of Monty Python's group. Its graphic design was developed using fragments of Renaissance artworks. Joe Richardson is responsible for creating The Procession to Calvary.

A hybrid of a platform and a survival game. The title was developed by two people – Joar Lisberg Jakobsson was the lead programmer and the author of the idea of the game while the music was composed by James Primate. The game takes place in a hostile post-industrial realm filled with complicated machinery. The environment is constantly plagued by downpours and the animals that live in it are forced to hide from the rain in a hibernated state.

8.8 Game Score

A two-dimensional action game with designs resembling old cartoon movies, which is a debut production of StudioMDHR, an independent developer. In Cuphead, we assume the role of a gambling addict that loses his soul to the devil during one of his sessions. To retrieve it, he needs to work off its equivalent. When it comes to mechanics, the game is a 2D fighting game with a degree of platforming elements – we participate in continuous 1v1 fights, taking place on special 2D arenas.

8.8 Game Score

The Color of Madness is an expansion for a turn-based RPG Darkest Dungeon. DLC introduces a new type of adventure, in which the players face endless waves of enemies while trying to reach their objective, and a new faction. There are also more trinkets that weren’t seen before.

8.6 Game Score

A retro-inspired adventure-platform game developed by D-Pad Studios. The protagonist of Owlboy is Otus, an owl-boy from a flying village - Veille. One day, when the village is invaded by sky pirates, our protagonist embarks on a dangerous adventure that will be full of exploration of intriguing locations and battling increasingly difficult opponents.

8.6 Game Score

Developed by independent studio Dennaton Games, a brutal retro-style action game resembling the classic first installment in the Grand Theft Auto series. The action takes place during the 80s in the titular Miami. The main hero is a muscular ruffian who after receiving mysterious calls recorded on an answering machine commits a series of violent acts. Missions come down to murdering everyone in a given location. The protagonist can execute stealth attacks as well as engage in open combat.

8.6 Game Score

A side-scrolling horror/adventure game. Detention is a debut project of Taiwanese studio Red Candle Games. The action of the game takes place in Taiwan during the 1960s, in the middle of martial law that lasted 37 years. We are taken to Greenwood, a high-school placed in a mountainous area. The players assume the role of two students who discover that the school became inhabited by wicked monsters known from local legends.

Two-dimensional party-game platformer designed to play in multiplayer. Up to four players can take part in the game (locally and over the Internet), and their task is to get to the finish line first and collect as many points as possible. However, it is not a regular race, because in Ultimate Chicken Horse we create the tracks by placing various platforms, jumps and traps on the board.

8.6 Game Score

Gris is an artistic 2D platformer. We are guided by the actions of the title girl trying to deal with the painful past. We travel through a beautiful, surreal world, solving puzzles and overcoming simple platform sequences. The game is the work of Nomad's debuting studio.

8.5 Game Score

An economic real-time strategy game created by British indie developer Introversion Software. Prison Architect lets you play as a headmaster of a penal facility. Your duties include designing a high-security prison, managing its budged, and providing for the needs of inmates. The authors saw to it that each prisoner had his individual personality and corresponding criminal inclinations.

8.5 Game Score

A roguelike post-apocalyptic 2D shooter developed by Vlambeer, an independent Dutch studio. The plot of Nuclear Throne was inspired by science-fiction movies from the 60s and 70s and tells a story of mutants fighting to seize control over a post-nuclear wasteland. In the game, we assume the role of a mutant of selected race and traverse irradiated locations, eliminating waves of incoming enemies.

8.5 Game Score

A dynamic action platform game with roguelike features. The game was developed by the Polish studio Awesome Games. In Badass Hero the action is presented from a side perspective. The game focuses on exploration of a randomly generated comic book-like world, avoiding many traps and obstacles, and on combat with encountered enemies. The protagonist can use various shotguns, machine guns, rocket launchers, and grenade launchers.

8.4 Game Score

An indie game by an experienced developer, who has worked on such productions as End of Nations, Tiger Woods, and NFL Street. In Axiom Verge you play as a man called Trace, who dies and is reborn in a fantasy world, where futuristic and archaic technologies blend. Trace quickly asserts that the new environment and the beings inhabiting it are trying to kill him. The protagonist explores locations filled with traps and enemies as he runs, jumps, and shoots with a gun.

8.4 Game Score

A remastered edition of a classic adventure game created by LucasArts in 1993. That game, along with its sequel, Maniac Mansion, became famous as the grandfather of modern adventure games. The Remastered Edition was prepared by Double Fine Productions, a studio founded by Tim Schafer – one of the co-creators of the original hit. In the game you play as a trio of heroes who are trying to save the world from a threat posed by the titular tentacle.

8.4 Game Score

A huge (approximately up to for 200 hours of gameplay) DLC expansion for The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth from Nicalis studio. It isn’t standalone title, requiring the base game to play. Afterbirth introduces many novelties, including a new final area with a unique boss and ending. However, it doesn’t change the game mechanics, as we once again play a roguelike arcade title, exploring randomly generated locations, discovering secrets and fighting enemies.

8.4 Game Score

Two-dimensional sandbox inspired by Terraria, Stardew Valley and The Legend of Zelda series from independent HopFrog studio. Players find themselves in an open world where they collect raw materials and produce items necessary to unlock new activities. The game has no predetermined goal and leaves us free to decide what we want to do.

8.3 Game Score

Funny platformer with RPG elements. An ordinary boy unwittingly moves from an RPG session straight into a dungeon straight from fantasy games. The hero has to face powerful enemies lurking in the underworld. The production resembles such hits as Castlevania. However, its characteristic feature is a huge portion of good humour. Interestingly, Unepic is available in the Polish language version.
