A dynamic action game developed by Japanese studio Platinum Games – known primarily for their successful slasher Bayonetta and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, a spin-off to a popular stealth game series. The game’s goal is to defeat a giant dragon who took over a magical realm. You get to explore a vast world that combines elements of science fiction and fantasy. While fighting your way through to the main boss, you face the dragon’s lesser kins – each one of them has unique abilities and requires using different tactics. In this dangerous quest you can use not only various melee weapons, but also the hero’s supernatural skills that give him an upper hand in fighting the huge reptiles. The core gameplay is based on spectacular action, which is quite similar to the previous games of the Japanese developer.

ARK: Survival Evolved (XONE)
A sandbox survival simulator set in an open world, which draws inspiration from productions such as DayZ. Unlike in the aforementioned title, this time we fight against powerful prehistoric creature instead of zombies. The game is the debut of an independent studio called Wildcard, founded by a former employee of Microsoft Game Studios. The player begins the game defenseless and naked on an unidentified island, and his or her task is to survive in this new, harsh environment. In order to do that, we must hunt and gather various raw materials which will be used to create the much needed weapons and tools. One of the most fun aspects of ARK: Survival Evolved are the meticulously depicted creatures – the game features more than 60 species of dinosaurs and prehistoric mammals. Since the title features o multiplayer experience, meeting other players in the game world will happen and, depending on their attitude, we can fight them or establish valuable alliances.

The player assumes the role of a character who is trying to survive in a zombie-infested metropolis. The sandbox gameplay of Dying Light is divided into two phases. During the day, the game puts main focus on exploration and acquisition of raw materials and weapons, while at night players must face hordes of the living dead. The creators wanted to put the accent on two gameplay elements: thrilling combat with a variety of weapons (including crafted ones), and dynamic movement throughout the city, enabling the players to overcome terrain obstacles using parkour. In addition to a single-player campaign, Dying Light also offers a four-person cooperation mode via the Internet.

The first official expansion to a survival action game made by Polish studio Techland in 2015. The add-on is set after the events presented in the base game, and take you to the suburbs of Harran city. Playing as Kyle Crane, a character known from the original, you have to infiltrate a camp of a cult, whose members are immune to zombie bites and can use the monsters to their own means. Driven by the goal of finally getting rid of the plague, the protagonist has to undertake a series of missions to gain the trust of the locals and learn their secrets. Gameplay mechanics remain unchanged, although the add-on is set in a notably vast location (bigger than all maps from the base game combined), across which you can move around in a dune buggy. The creators also decided to give players more freedom when it comes to story-related missions.

However, the most important novelty is added support of modding tools, which allows players to freely modify the most important elements of the game and create new equipment, monsters, characters and even whole campaigns and game modes.

Minecraft has been developed with the intention of unleashing the creativity of players, who can freely change the game's virtual world made from voxels (cubic blocks). The gameplay concentrates on terrain transformations, building structures, crafting items, and creating your own adventures. The game consists of two modes: a classic one, which allows for unending experience, and survival, in which we have to prepare to fend off monster assaults at night. In addition to single player, Minecraft also offers online multiplayer. The game from Mojang AB is distinguished by its unique retro visuals.

The second paid expansion for Tom Clancy’s The Division, an online action game with RPG elements. Survival, just like the vanilla game, was developed by Ubisoft Massive, a studio experienced with online titles. Similarly to the first add-on, Underground, Survival first debuted on Xbox One and then came out for PC and PlayStation 4 a month later. The Division is a political thriller in which New York is faced with a biological terrorist attack. As a result of it, the metropolis is cut off from the world and its citizens have to fight for their lives. The entire city is mired in chaos but some places are especially dangerous. These so-called Dark Zones, are where the PvP combat happens, and they are the expansion's main focus. As the title suggests, the add-on introduces a survival mode in which players have to survive as long as possible in Dark Zones.

As the game’s universe draws inspiration from such novels as Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, at the bottom of the ocean you can find bizarre sea monsters, as well as remnants of futuristic buildings and ships. The player assumes the role of a captain of an advanced submarine, and explores the depths of the ocean. The game’s characteristic feature is the ability to design vessels and determine such things as performance, layout, on-board mechanisms, and materials used for the construction. You begin with rather primitive ships, but as you progress you will be able to construct more advanced vessels, and explore previously unavailable parts of the ocean. While playing, you can freely walk around your ship, and even go outside to explore the marine world on your own.

A two-dimensional platformer with RPG elements, produced by Moon Studios, an independent developer. It belongs to a subgenre called metroidvania. We assume the role of a young and inexperienced forest spirit who will try to learn more about himself and the world around him during his long journey. In the game we explore vast areas full of hidden passages and shortcuts while solving puzzles and facing challenges testing our agility. In order to gain access to some parts of the map we have to unlock special abilities first. The developers have decided not to use any dialogue; the plot is presented only through silent cut-scenes. The unique atmosphere of the game is enhanced by beautiful, hand-drawn backgrounds.

Players are divided into three classes which specialize in open combat, stealth, or special powers. Gameplay is focused on multiplayer, encouraging the players to explore the world. Battles involve small groups of participants; it is possible to start the game alone and join a previously created group. The game was created for next-gen consoles and which translates into high-quality graphics and sounds.

A refreshed edition of Darksiders – an action-adventure game from 2010, prepared mainly with eight generation consoles in mind (PlayStation 4 and Xbox One). We assume the role of War, one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. As a result of a conspiracy, he initiates the end of the world prematurely, for which he is punished by being stripped of most of his powers and exiled to Earth. The protagonist decides to get revenge on the culprits, fighting hordes of demons, which are in abundance on the destroyed planet that our hero traverses in search for the perpetrators. The mainstay of the game is the dynamic combat, in which we use various types of weaponry and special attacks. The hero traverses large locations with a partially open structure, occasionally solving riddles to proceed. As the game progresses, War reclaims his lost abilities and acquires better weapons. The visual changes are the biggest asset of the Warmastered Edition. The game now runs in native 1080p, the animations are more fluid, the quality of shadows and graphical effects has been improved, while the texture resolution is now twice as high.

A tactical RPG with turn-based combat set in the popular universe of Warhammer. The game is a debut project of the Canadian studio Rogue Factor, founded by veterans of the video game industry. This title is based on a classic tabletop battle game Mordheim, which, in contrast to most of the games set in this universe, did not feature grand battles but small clashes of individual units. The game is set 500 years before the Warhammer’s main story, in the titular Mordheim City. After being struck by a comet, the city becomes a fighting ground for numerous conflicting factions. As a leader of one of them, you explore vast districts of the metropolis, undertaking various story missions and fighting enemies. Turn-based battles take place on 3D arenas of different shapes and layouts. Interestingly, your soldiers can become crippled, e.g. lose limbs.

The story of Ori and the Blind Forest focuses on the titular spirit of the forest who is trying to learn something about itself and the world that surrounds it. The game lacks any dialogues and the story is told by using the gameplay and mute cutscenes. As for the mechanics, the game belongs to the subgenre called metroidvania. During the game player explores large, two-dimensional locations that contain many hidden passages, shortcuts, secrets, surprises and action challenges. As the game progresses, player unlocks new abilities of the protagonist that allow him to reach previously unavailable places. Definitive Edition offers 4 completely new locations, new abilities, music tracks and various improvements suggested by fans. Among the latter there are additional difficulty levels and a quick travel system.

A sequel to the 2015 game by Mouldy Toof which was a unique arcade 2D platformer with elements of logic and RPG productions. In The Escapist 2, the players assume the role of inmates locked up in heavily-guarded prisons, and their task is to work out the security system and to escape. To do so, we have to look for allies and items that can be crafted into useful tools while pretending that we tend to our usual prison routines. Compared to the original, the game features a myriad of enhancements such as new ways of spending spare time, a modified combat system, a possibility of creating previously unavailable items, and new ways of escaping. One of the biggest novelties is the introduction of a drop in/drop out multiplayer mode in which up to four players can play on a split screen or over the Internet.

While playing, you will traverse vast locations on foot or on horseback, though the pinnacle of gameplay are the spectacular combat sequences, in which you can use the hero’s abilities, developed over time. As compared with the previous game, Deathfinitive Edition sports enhanced graphics with more detailed textures, better animations, and improved lighting and weather effects. In addition to the base game, this release contains all post-launch DLCs.

A remastered edition of the first installment in the Dead Island series, which was originally launched in 2011 by the Polish studio Techland. In the game, we are transported to the island of Banoi, located near Papua New Guinea, where we assume the role of one of four characters that have to fight for survival in a zombie-infested tropical paradise. As far as gameplay is concerned, the title is a first-person action game with RPG elements, allowing the player to explore, undertake various primary and secondary quests, and, obviously, fight hordes of zombies with a wide arsenal of melee weapons and firearms. The game shines in cooperation mode, where up to four players can play together. Compared to the original, Dead Island: Definitive Edition offers enhanced visuals powered by Chrome Engine 6 as well as a modified user interface and a number of other minor improvements. The game comes with all DLCs released for the original and can be bought either separately or in the Dead Island: Definitive Collection bundle.

A prisoner simulator that combines features of many genres. It was developed by Mouldy Toof in cooperation with Team 17 Software. The player assumes the role of a prisoner who leads a “normal” life in one of several available penitentiary facilities. The main objective of the game is to plan a way of escaping from the prison. In addition to participating in a series of daily activities like various works, workouts, meals, walks and interactions with other prisoners, the player is also gathering seemingly useless items, looking for allies and observing his surroundings in order to find weak points of security systems. The final phase is to use the previously prepared plan and escape. The Escapist offers great freedom of acting and many ways of escaping depending on prison style (among which there is for example a military prison camp). The game offers retro pixel-art two-dimensional graphics presented from a top-down perspective.

The plot is focused on an invasion of hostile aliens, who destroy everything in their path and are completely resistant to traditional weaponry. When scientists discover that the aliens can only be harmed with weapons based on their own technology, a special team is created. Its task is to stop the invaders, and you play as one of its members. Mechanics-wise, the game is a typical “walking” beat 'em up production, where the difficulty level increases as you progress, and to succeed you have to perform complex combo attacks. Along the way, you gather experience, which allows you to develop your strength and abilities, using a complex skill tree, allowing you to fit your character to your preferred playstyle.

An action-adventure game with role-playing elements by indie studio EKO software. The main story campaign is set in an archipelago of four small islands near the coast of Columbia. This seemingly idyllic place turns out to be infested with ravenous zombies. The protagonists (you can choose from Abby, Jack or Kenji) need to use their determination and survival skills in this hostile environment. The gameplay of How to Survive features an open structure, giving you much freedom in the way you decide to complete the quests. There is a strong focus on survival skills—the characters need to gather food and water, and also rest between battles with the undead. A simple crafting system allows you to create your own armor and useful items.
