Shadowverse plays similarly to other games representing this genre – the gameplay builds on card duels with AI or other players. Players get at their disposal seven character classes, each featuring a unique skill set. One’s task during a duel is to reduce the other player's life points to zero by playing cards representing monsters and spells.

Developed by RedLynx – creators of the Trials game series – this South Park game installment is based on a free-to-play business model and features some microtransactions. During the game, the players have to collect cards representing characters known from the TV series and use them in order to build decks.

Another important gameplay element is the deck of cards built by the players.
