Yooka-Laylee is a 3D platformer developed by Playtonic Games, a studio created by the experienced developers who played a crucial role in the development of Rare's biggest games. Yooka, the first of them, is a chameleon who has an unusually long tongue, which can be used to grab onto various surfaces and cover large distances. The other one, Laylee, is a bat who can use sonic attacks. Laylee can also carry Yooka and fly with her friend for a short distance. During our adventures, we explore vast, three-dimensional locations. We need to use our protagonists unique abilities to travel around them. There are numerous challenges awaiting the players: from typical platform sequences, through logical puzzles and item collecting, to boss fights. There are also many hidden minigames in Yooka-Laylee’s world.

Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap (Switch)
Arcade 18 April 2017
A remake of the classic 8-bit platform game Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap, originally released in 1989, developed by Lizardcube. You play as the eponymous hero, who has to kill a dragon lurking in a cave. Unfortunately, by fulfilling his task he brings upon himself a mysterious curse, which transforms him into a humanoid lizard, and his new objective is to get rid of the spell. The game is a classic platformer, in which you mostly explore locations, gather items, avoid traps and fight enemies. After every successful boss fight, the protagonist transforms into a different animal, gaining a new set of abilities. Compared to the original, the biggest change are the game's visuals, created from scratch in high resolution.
Snake Pass (Switch)
Arcade 28 March 2017
An action platform game with logical puzzles. It was developed by British studio Sumo Digital. The title is based on a prototype created by Seba Liese during a Game Jam. Snake pass tells a story about the adventures of a snake and his friend, a hummingbird. Together they must find keys to the magical gates that provide magical power to the Harmony Foothills. They are doing it in order to defeat a mysterious intruder who threatens the lives of the inhabitants of the realm. The game takes place in a three-dimensional environment and the player takes control of the aforementioned snake. The protagonist’s movement was recreated in a pretty realistic way. It means that, for example, he cannot jump, but instead he crawls along the ground, wraps around objects and swims. All of these actions must be used in order to defeat various obstacles and to find well hidden collectibles. In some situations the friendly hummingbird helps the snake by catching him by his tail and transporting to seemingly unavailable places.
Arcade 31 May 2017
A third-person view adventure game developed by Tequila Works studio from Spain, which successfully debuted in 2012 with a post-apocalyptic platformer Deadlight. You assume the role of a boy who is trying to escape a mysterious island that conceals a sinister past. During the course of the game you will solve numerous puzzles, using a magical artifact that allows you to manipulate the environment and time. The title, despite being an action game also includes many platformer elements. The hero travels through an open world, climbs craggy cliffs, and jumps over chasms. Apart from being skilled, you also have to be perceptive, as light, sound, and touch (thanks to the technology offered by PS Vita and DUALSHOCK 4) play a vital role in Rime. The game features a 3D environment, colorful visuals, and a comic book-like visual style.
Super Bomberman R (Switch)
Arcade 03 March 2017
Super Bomberman R is another game in the popular Bomberman series and a launch title for the Nintendo Switch, developed by Konami. The game has 3D visuals, but we observe the action from the classic top-down perspective. We play as the titular Bomberman, and our job is to eliminate enemies we encounter on various maps with the bombs at our disposal. Even though the gameplay mechanics are not that complex, a more tactical approach is needed when entering new levels. Taking advantage of the environment of each level is the key to success. For example, we can place our opponent in a trap without any exit. Super Bomberman R offers two game modes: Story, for one or two players, or Battle, a local or online multiplayer for up to eight players.

Sonic Mania (Switch)
Arcade August 2017
A 3D platformer that came out as a reboot of one of the most popular adventure game series, featuring the titular Sonic the Hedgehog. This production was created by a SEGA’s subsidiary, Sonic Team, employing people who helped create the series and its most important iterations. In terms of gameplay mechanics, the game is set firmly in the franchise's initial premise, allowing you to play as the main hero (or one of his many friends), and traverse a series of locations where your goal is not only to reach the end of a map, but also to do it as quickly as you can. For most of the time, action is presented in third-person perspective, however, the game features also also some classic 2D levels. Each location is filled with traps and opponents, but also various power-ups that can boost your score or protect you from damage.
Sonic Forces (Switch)
Another installment in the popular platform game series by SEGA. The game was developed by Sonic Team, the creators of Sonic Generations and Sonic Colors. Once again, you play as the eponymous super-fast hedgehog, and your task is to lead the resistance and face the evil Doctor Eggman and his army of giant robots. Sonic Forces utilizes the third person perspective. Like in the previous games of the franchise, you traverse the maps full of obstacles and enemies, and collect golden rings. The biggest attraction of the game is undoubtedly the most characteristic feature of the brand - the speed. The protagonist moves so fast that sometimes you may not be able to discern what is happening on screen. The game also features an option to summon alternative versions of Sonic and to control several of them at once — it is the only way to deal with challenges, which are too much for just one Sonic.

Arcade 17 March 2017
Second DLC for The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth developed by Nicalis studio. Aside from that, the add-on features more difficult Greed mode and an additional chapter, as well as a new playable character and five unique challenges. However, the most important novelty is the added support of modding tools, which allows players to freely modify the most important elements of the game and create new equipment, monsters, characters and even whole campaigns or game modes.
Skylanders Imaginators (Switch)
Arcade 03 March 2017
Another installment in the popular series of 3D platform games developed in cooperation between Activision and Toys for Bob. The series uses special toy figurines that are transferred to the virtual world of the game. The mechanics of Skylanders Imaginators are similar to the ones from the previous installments of the series. It is a typical action game focused on exploration, getting through obstacles, collecting items and fighting enemies while occasionally solving riddles. The way of interacting with the toys hasn’t changed as well – what’s more, the game is fully compatible with models released for the previous installments. Among the most important new features there is the possibility to design new characters (thanks to the toy called Creation Crystal) and completely new figurines from the Skylanders Sense group, among which there are 31 warriors.

A sequel to the 2013 metroidvania title, developed by Image & Form. There are also various enemies to defeat with our more or less fancy weapons. Like the previous works of Image & Form, the game features good-looking cartoonish visuals.

1-2-Switch is an original party game developed by Nintendo for Switch, their newest console. Gameplay is based on two-person competition - players take part in various contests, playing as pirates, gunslingers, and other characters. What makes 1-2-Switch stand out from the crowd of other similar games is that we are not watching the screen while playing, but facing our opponent face to face. Thanks to that unique approach, the screen is used mostly for showing the score. 1-2-Switch also makes a good use of the console's unique features, allowing every player to use one of its detachable controllers.

Blaster Master Zero (Switch)
Arcade 09 March 2017
A blend of a 2D platformer and a simple shoot'em-up game by Inti Creates. The production is another installment in the series, which started in 1988. The protagonists are skilled scientist Jason Frudnick and Fred, a mysterious creature he discovered. When the latter escapes the laboratory, Jason pursues him. He ends up in a cave, where he found a battle-ready advanced vehicle called Sophia-III. Blaster Master Zero features two modes of gameplay. The first one is a classic platform game utilizing a side view perspective; in this part, you have to avoid traps, overcome obstacles, and sometimes fight with enemies. However, Jason often leaves his vehicle. The perspective switches then to bird's eye view, and the protagonist has to battle opponents. Both modes feature boss enemies, such as a mutant crab or a giant brain. The game features oldschool 8-bit visuals.

To achieve that, you have to complete a range of levels and use the protagonist's unusual powers, which allow him to change into five kinds of beings — you use their abilities both when fighting enemies and solving puzzles. Although Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom references popular 1980s platform games, there are also role-playing elements. The game features oldschool 2D visuals, resembling legendary 16-bit productions.
