Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars (Director’s Cut) is a classic representative of the adventure games genre, created by Revolution Software studio. This is one of several Broken Sword games.

Released in 1996 original Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars let you play as George Stobbart, an American who, after arriving to Paris, witnesses a bomb attack on a café and gets involved in a serious intrigue. He also meets his future girlfriend, a young reporter Nicole Collard. In Director’s Cut version you not only relive the original story, but also learn what happened before these events, helping Nicole, who tracks down the murderer of one of richest and most influential Parisian politicians. Of course, she quickly joins forces with George. Together the two are trying to solve the mystery behind the conspiracy that goes back to the medieval legend of the Templars.

The creators of the Director’s Cut version of the game stayed true to the roots of the series. Thus, the game starts with an “earthquake” and holds the tension throughout the whole story. Of course, a key role again is played by dialogues and the main heroes’ characteristic sense of humor. Both George and Nicole are known for their cynicism and often make hilarious comments about in-game events.

The Director’s Cut version was enriched with many novelties. First and foremost, the original story was expanded by new elements and locations. You also encounter new puzzles and riddles. An interesting addition are newly created face animations that express character’s emotions. These were created by Dave Gibbons, a famous comic book author (Watchmen series). Thanks to that, characters have more life in them and are even more likable.
