A third-person action game in which we get to know the pirate world from a completely different angle. In the course of the adventure, we travel through the vast world, looking for treasures, solving puzzles, and fighting. Battles take place both on land and at sea. The whole is maintained in a very severe atmosphere and does not shy away from brutality.

Raven's Cry is a third-person action RPG, which takes on sea voyages and pirate duels. In many ways, it resembles the second installment of the Risen cycle, enriched by naval battles involving sailing ships. At the beginning of the development, the production was being dealt with by a team at a Finnish studio, Octane Games, but, after some time, it was handed over to a Polish studio, Reality Pump. The developer is known for, among others, the series of Earth and Two Worlds.

We play as a pirate named Christopher Raven. The man survived a pirate attack, at a young age, in which his parents died. Many years later, he swears revenge on the perpetrators and decides to track them down. The developers led the story seriously, splitting it into chapters, and the story does not have much in common with a satirical approach known from the Pirates of the Caribbean film series. In the game, there are even some historical events and characters. Get to, among others, the Jamaican Port Royal or an Aztec city in the jungle.

The developers tried to make the gameplay varied, allowing the player to deal with many different things. Most of the time, we direct the protagonist, watching the events from the third person perspective. Exploring and fighting against numerous opponents plays a huge role. It can be done not only with melee weapons and guns, because the hero can also silently eliminate his opponents, or use the accompanying raven to distract them. We also sail the sea, where many dangers await Christopher. Traveling is also enriched with naval battles, in which numerous ships take part.

As befits an RPG, the protagonist gains experience in the course of the adventure, which is then used to develop his skills. The game has also a built-in reputation system, which determines the attitude of the three Caribbean powers (England, Spain and France) towards our character. The game also offers the side missions, the ability to become a merchant (trade goods under the principle of buy cheap, sell dear) and a bounty hunter. Raven always has only one ship at his disposal, but depending on his progress, he can change it for a much larger vessel, such as a galleon, frigate, or a liner.

Graphic design is of a good quality, taking into account the fact that the player has to deal with open world to explore. The developers designed many different locations, so that during the game you can not complain on boredom. The attractiveness of the game also affects the ability to make choices – based on certain decisions, the subsequent events are shaped, and the player has to deal with the consequences.
