DarkOrbit for WWW is one of the most popular MMOG (Massive Multiplayer Online Graphic) games developed by Bigpoint. The action of the game is set in the outer space in the distant future, in which three organizations – the Mars Mining Operation, the Venus Resources Limited and the Earth Industries Corporation – fight for resources and control over the Universe.

Mechanics

A player has to choose a side in the conflict, for which he carries out numerous missions and assignments onboard different spaceships. One gets at his disposal 10 different vehicles featuring various parameters and settings – from Phoenix Starjet, perfect for beginning players, to more technologically advanced Vengeance and Goliath.

For completing different missions and fighting numerous opponents, a player earns experience and gathers resources necessary to improve his ship or buy a new one. In the game, there are two separate currencies – credits and minerals (Prometium, Endurium, and Terbium). The latter ones are useful when modifying the spaceship by installing new weapons, shields, and engines.

Depending on player's experience, he has the access to particular locations. Initially, these locations include only territories controlled by the chosen faction, which ensures more safety. With time, one can access the locations controlled by hostile factions and fight opposing players (PvP mode).

DarkOrbit for WWW delivers an elaborate clan system. Joining a clan allows a player to benefit significantly. On the other hand, each prize is subjected to a small clan tax.

Another interesting element implemented in the game is the auction system. By participating in an auction, a player gets an opportunity to purchase valuable items for a small price.

Technical aspects

For an MMOG game, DarkOrbit for WWW delivers high-quality visuals. The game is based on the Flash technology, which allows generating spectacular graphics directly through a web browser.

Interestingly enough, the game is based on the free-to-play business model. Players, however, can purchase the premium accounts, which make the game significantly easier.
