Fire Fight is a futuristic shooting with isometric view, created by the Krakow-based Chaos Works studio, known to domestic players from such hits as Electro Body, Heartlight or Robbo - released under the name xLand. Developers from the Vistula surprised the world with their innovative approach to the classic genre and spectacular graphic design. The effect was so good that the Cracovians managed to attract the interest of serious Western distributors in their production. The shareware version was developed by Epic Megagames, while the commercial version of Fire Fight was released in the USA by Electronic Arts.

The action of the game is set in a brutal world of the future, in which mankind has taken control of the galaxy and power is exercised by the despotic Spectral Council. Hard and restrictive laws allow for severe and suspicious repression without the need for trial. Its enforcers are usually fighter pilots, who deal with the enemies of power without sentiment. One of the most talented is a Jaxon, whose role is played by the player. With its ultra-modern spacecraft, Jagger fights the rebels, carrying out the most dangerous missions commissioned by the Council.

The gameplay is based on classic for the genre of scrolled shooters mechanisms. Developers, however, approached the topic in an innovative way, offering players the freedom of movement in all directions and the opportunity to freely explore maps, which are full of bonuses and hidden places. In the game, we control a small ship that wreaks havoc among enemy units such as fighters, suicide pilots and watchtowers. We have 18 missions to play, located on 5 different planets, and each of them is preceded by a detailed briefing. Most of the commissioned tasks consist in destroying the indicated targets, although there are also rescue or reconnaissance missions. In the course of the game we gain new weapons, which allow us to increase our chances of fighting with a large number of opponents and demanding bosses.

In addition to the single player campaign mode, the developers also implemented a fully functional multiplayer mode, dedicated for two people via modem or up to four in the local network. What's interesting, inside the packaging with the game you will find two CDs, allowing you to play with your friends without having to buy a second game. Multi-player game offers two variants: Fire Fight and Base Building. The first of them is a classic deathmatch-style duel, while the second task of each participant is to find and transport to the database the components needed for its expansion. Due to their limited number, it is natural to have to fight with other players.

Compared to other productions in its genre, Fire Fight stands out above all due to its excellent graphic design, which requires a really powerful computer to handle. Two-dimensional graphics of the game, made with great precision, thanks to the use of isometric perspective gives the impression of three-dimensionality. The environment is very varied, and the models of the units are characterized by high detail and excellent animations. A lot of special effects such as explosions, fires and atmospheric effects are also very impressive.
