The Walking Dead: Season Two for PC, PS3 and etc. is an episodic point-and-click adventure game based on the comic book series titled The Walking Dead. It is the direct sequel to The Walking Dead: Season One released in 2012. The production won multiple awards, was nominated for the best game of the year many times, and was extremely well-received by the players. It was praised for its story and how it made the players emotionally invested in it by forcing them to make important choices, which often affected the fate of the characters. The Walking Dead: Season Two was developed by American studio Telltale Games. Like its predecessor, the game consists of five short episodes released on a monthly basis.

Plot

You play as Clementine, known from the first season. The 11-year-old girl is struggling with what happened to her in the first game and trying to survive in the dangerous world. You meet a slew of new characters, as well as a couple of old friends.

Mechanics

The basics of the gameplay remained unchanged. You explore various locations, talk to NPCs, gather items, and solve simple puzzles. From time to time you also participate in quick time events featuring arcade segments. The series retains the original atmosphere. The game focuses on interactions between characters and the cinematic presentation of the story, not on humans-vs-zombies combat or survival elements. An important factor is still the process of making decisions whose results affect the plot; the results of your decisions from episode one follow you into the later episodes. Often you have very little time to make the call, which builds up the tension and the importance of the choice.

Technical aspects

The visuals of The Walking Dead: Season Two remain the same. The character models and the surroundings are still rendered in a comic-book-like style. The game continues to use the studio's original engine, whose age and limits make themselves apparent many times, especially when it comes to animation or background details. However, the well-plotted story makes up for it.

The game consists of the following episodes: Episode 1: All That Remains, Episode 2: A House Divided, Episode 3: In Harm’s Way, Episode 4: Amid the Ruins, and Episode 5: No Going Back.
