Samurai Warriors 4 is the next installment of a series of TPP action games with samurai in the lead role, launched in 2004. The Omega Force studio, known for its genre-like Dynasty Warriors series, is responsible for its creation as before. The fourth part has a jubilee character and many of the solutions used in it refer to the roots of the cycle.

According to tradition, this production takes us back to the turbulent times of feudal Japan and shows the events leading to the unification of the country (reproduced with fidelity to historical realities). We follow the story in Samurai Warriors 4 from the perspective of different characters, depending on the chosen campaign. Among the protagonists are Yukimura Sanada, the famous samurai known as the "scarlet demon of war", and his brother Nobuyuki (fighting on the opposite side of the barricade). The total number of playable characters is 50 - we are dealing with historical celebrities such as Mitsunari Ishida, Hanbei Takenaka, Yoshitsugu Otani, Inahime, Kanbei Kuroda, Goemon Ishikawa or Musashi Miyamoto.

As in previous editions, the game focuses on fighting from small battles to large-scale battles. As far as the gameplay model is concerned, a relatively new patent (previously used only once in the series, in Samurai Warriors: Chronicles) is the ability to select two warriors for each stage and freely switch between them while playing. The absolute novelty is the option of creating one's own character from scratch and playing it out in a separate campaign, consisting of a series of different tasks.

Graphic design has clearly improved since the release of the previous part, although it is still not possible to talk about a visual layer that would be breathtaking. However, this is hardly surprising given the scale of the battles presented in the title and the number of characters appearing on the screen at the same time.
