Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Tipping Stars for WiiU and 3DS is a logical 2D game developed by Nintendo for Wii U and 3DS. Once again, the game uses many of the company’s famous characters. Players will have the opportunity to control small, toy Marios, Peaches, etc.

Mechanics

In Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Tipping Stars for WiiU and 3DS we have to make our way through a series of levels where reaching the destination requires us to be creative when facing numerous obstacles on our way. Characters move by themselves and go in one dircetion all the time, changing it only when they bounce off the wall. Players will have to build bridges and blockades in order to lead their heroes from one place to another. The amount of points they get depends on how fast they do so. We use the consoles (Wii U or 3DS) touch screen to play the game. When it comes to gameplay, Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Tipping Stars is a bit similar to what we could see in the mobile version of the Polish game Sleepwalker’s Journey.

The game also comes with a level editor. We can share our creations with other players. After they finish our level, those who did so rate it and by doing so inform us, and other players, if our creation was worth playing. What is interesting is the fact that we don’t have full access to the editor from the beginning. We unlock parts of it by collecting stars in the game.

Technical Aspects

Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Tipping Stars for WiiU and 3DS has simple, minimalistic 2D visuals. Despite that, the game is simply fun to play and has that Nintendo feel to it. It is the first Nintendo game that uses the cross-buy function (if we buy one version of the game, we get the game key for the other one as a bonus).
