Order of Battle: Rising Sun is a paid DLC for turn-based strategy Order of Battle: World War II developed by The Aristocrats from Luxemburg. Interestingly, the campaign offered in the expansion used to be a part of a full-price game known as Order of Battle: Pacific. After that, the game changed name to Order of Battle: World War II and switched to free-to-play distribution model, the campaign was re-released as a paid DLC for the free original. However, all who had bought Order of Battle: Pacific received access to this content for free.

Gameplay

The attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941 aimed to grant Japan supremacy in the West Pacific. In the course of 12-scenario campaign offered by the expansion you can take part in a few key battles on the Pacific, including the aforementioned Pearl Harbor, the Java Sea, the Coral Sea, the Phillipines, the Bataan Peninsula, Jawa, Guadalcanal, New Caledonia, Midway Atoll as well as Australia and New Zeland. Unlike the U.S. Pacific DLC, which focused only on actual events, this expansion also includes fictional scenarios featuring Japanese invasion on Australia.

While playing Order of Battle: Rising Sun you get to command the Imperial Japanese Navy, made up of strong fleet of war ships and aircraft carriers, as well as the Imperial Japanese Army, battle-tested during the Second Sino-Japanese War. Building a well-balanced army is not an easy task, due to limited resources and reinforcements. On the other hand, in combat you can make use of many iconic (also prototypical) weapons and units, such as deadly A6M Zero fighters or mighty Yamato battleship.
