Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA X is the seventh part of a popular series of arcade rhythm games created by SEGA. As usual, the main role in the production is played by virtual female vocalists, led by Hatsune Miku. Their digital voices are generated in professional music programs, with the help of which fans around the world have created thousands of popular songs from dozens of music genres. Several dozen of them are featured in the game. As in previous installments of Project DIVA, some of the songs will debut and some will be well known to the owners of previous titles.

Mechanics

The mainstay of the game does not differ from what other games from the Project DIVA franchise have gotten us used to. During the game, players must feel the rhythm of the music, and then quickly and correctly press the gamepad buttons displayed on the screen. Sometimes we have to hold one of them for a long time, releasing the finger at the right moment. Asterisks also appear on the screen, which you activate using the analog knob on the controller or the PS Vita touch screen. Individual songs also contain special bonus segments, which provide us with additional points after a flawless performance. The game offers four levels of difficulty: easy, normal, hard and extreme.

A novelty in Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA X is a story campaign in which we help Miku and other game characters to get to know the world of virtual idols. As we progress in the game, we unlock new cut-scenes and events, similar to those from previous installments of the series.

The game offers a set of several hundred costumes and accessories for our characters, which this time is unlocked completely at random. All songs and items are assigned to one of the five auras - Classic, Cool, Cute, Elegant, Quirky. Having completed the outfit corresponding to the aura of the song, we can expect bonuses.

Technical aspects

Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA X uses the same engine and animations as its predecessors. However, the PlayStation 4 version looks better than on PlayStation 3 or PS Vita, boasting a high-resolution image and much better textures and additional effects.
