Final Fantasy XI: Vana'diel Collection 2008 is another compilationfor FFXI. It contains the base version and four add-ons - Rise of the Zilart, Chains of Promathia, Treasures of Aht Urhgan and Wings of the Goddess. Together with them, we receive a fold-out map of the world, a mini-guide for beginners and a 30-day invitation for a friend.

We play as one of the yellow rookies, hoping to play a key role in the fight against the plague of monsters, which had ravaged the world twelve years earlier. In addition to confronting the reborn army of Shadow Lord and the Shadow Lord himself, we will also discover the secrets of the creation of the world of Vana'diel, or the story of the imprisonment of the god Promathia. We will also get to know the legends of the Aht Urghan Empire, as well as go back in time to the old wars that shaped the present world.

In the world of Vana'diel magic intertwines with technology. The world was divided into three huge kingdoms - the Republic of Bastok, Federation of Windurst, and Kingdom of San D'oria. Their power is determined by the number of owned realms - numerous territories scattered all over the map. In turn, the players compete for them themselves, who at the beginning of the game choose under whose banner they want to fight, and then together with their "compatriots" conquer lands for their kingdom. The game world is inhabited by many different races, of which for the players can use the following five: Elvaan, Galka, Hume, Mithra and Tarutaru.

The adventure starts with the creation of a character, so we choose gender and race, we also determine six stats and adjust the appearance of the avatar. Then we decide on one of the six available starting classes - warrior, monk, thief, or red, white, and black mage. In addition, after reaching the level 30, we can choose a special profession - samurai, bard, ninja, paladin, beastmaster, archer, dragon, summoner, blue mage, corsair, puppetmaster, dancer and scientist. The main activity in Final Fantasy XI is to perform quests, acquire new items and experience and progress the characters. During the game, we can use various means of transport - aircraft, ferries, and the popular FF mounts - Chocobos. Unfortunately, we do not have the opportunity to fight other players.

Visuals were presented in a manga-like style, known from previous installments of the Final Fantasy series. The world itself is very diverse and the effects of spells, spectacular. Also noteworthy is the soundtrack, one of the authors of which is the famous Nobuo Uematsu.
