Ticket to Earth for AND, PC and iOS is a unique mix of an RPG and a match-3 logic game characteristic for its episodic content. The game was developed by Robot Circus, and was released for both mobile and home media platforms, including AND, PC and iOS.

Plot

The action of Ticket to Earth takes place in New Providence – a human space colony that was created to offer a steady supply of Nitrium – a new source of Energy that made intergalactic travel much easier. From the moment of conception, the colony, belonging to Rinehart Corporation, had developed in a rapid pace, leading to an introduction of a class system. The ensuing tensions lead to the establishment of The Justice Engine – an advanced AI supported by a group of peacekeepers that is left with a mission to enforce peace on the colony. After a period of relative peace, an unexpected explosion destroys the main refinery which is also the key unit in the extraction process.

The small amount of the remaining Nitrium has led to an unexpected decision – the leaders of New Providence discontinued the excavating process and began to board The Martian Princess – a starliner from Earth that managed to reach its destination after a decade-long journey. Unfortunately, the vessel’s capacity is very low – only the richest members of New Providence society can board the ship. The situation leads to a violent outburst of massive protests. Moreover, the colony becomes a target of hordes of aggressive robots, criminals, and mutants, which makes the whole situation look like a major conspiracy. We are introduced to Rose, Wolf, Doc and Seven, a group of inhabitants that attempt to solve the mystery behind the unexpected turn of events and find a way to board the Martian Princess.

Mechanics

The action of Ticket to Earth is seen from an isometric perspective. The game was divided into episodes that gradually reveal the next fragments of the complex story. Each episode offers a set of engaging missions (involving surviving continuous enemy attacks, defeating a set number of opponents, or defending the chosen location) complemented by various side objectives, e.g. completing a level without being hit. Most of the time, the player faces hoodlums, malfunctioning peacekeeping robots, or aggressive mutants.

The battles themselves are turn-based and take place on a board divided into colored square tiles that are marked with a number of symbols. Placing your hero on one of them strengthens the given stat by filling the ascribed bar. As a result, the player is encouraged to cross through as many fields as possible, more so that a right amount of activated fields enables us to convert the remaining tiles into needed ones or strengthen the equipped attacks.

As the game progresses, we receive tokens that can be used to increase the combat capability of our hero. The skill tree consists of over a hundred skills divided between four schools.

Technical Aspects

Ticket to Earth for AND, PC and iOS is characteristic for its colorful two-dimensional visuals. The game offers animated cut-scenes and isometric battlefields with three-dimensional opponents and objects.
