Need for Speed II is a continuation of Road & Track Presents: The Need for Speed from 1994, prepared by Electronic Arts. The title again allows you to drive supercars with extraordinary performance and test them on several routes in different parts of the world.

Mechanics

Need for Speed II offers nine cars and six routes. In the virtual garage there are machines that remain in the sphere of dreams of many automotive enthusiasts, such as Ferrari F50, Mclaren F1, Ford GT90, Jaguar XJ220 or Lotus Esprit V8. Each player can race on tracks in a variety of scenes, including the Mediterranean Sea, at the foot of the mountain range and on the Pacific coast. A novelty in comparison to the first part of the series is the option to modify the settings of individual cars, including, for example, the angle of the spoiler, transmission gears or brake sensitivity.

Game modes

Electronic Arts production enables competition in single races where the player decides on the number of opponents and their cars, as well as a tournament where the triumph unlocks a hidden car. An interesting variety is the nokaut module, in which after each race the weakest driver in the stake is eliminated. The struggle continues until there is only one best participant left. Need for Speed II also enables up to eight people to play on the LAN.

Technical aspects

Need for Speed II is a three-dimensional racing game, the creators of which took care to imitate as close to reality as possible the cars present in the stake. To this end, they cooperated with manufacturers of individual machines, specifying the behaviour of cars on a given type of surface and recording the sounds of engines.
