The appearance of aliens in the vicinity of Earth is usually associated with huge problems. It is no different in the game of Krisalis called Soccer Kid, whose plot focuses on the interference of strangers on our planet. However, the one who suspects that once again this is about the destruction or enslavement of people was wrong....

The action of the programme takes place in 1994, just before the start of the World Cup, which at that time was to take place in the United States. The above mentioned aliens decide to steal the most important trophy for fans of kicked ball - the golden FIFA Cup - given to the winning team after the end of the sports struggle. Unfortunately, when an attempt is made to drag the prize on board a spacecraft, the object is destroyed and its five debris lands in different parts of the globe. An unidentified young man, a football fan, enters the action and decides to find all the cup pieces and deliver them to the event organisers. Only in this way will the world of sport bypass the disaster, in terms of force majeure, similar to the Chernobyl nuclear accident.

The naive story can be put aside, because in Soccer Kid it has absolutely no meaning at all. Krisalis' product is a 'platformer' of blood and bones, and in this genre the plot does not fundamentally affect the quality of the game. The most important thing is the action, and here the authors of the game showed themselves from the best possible side.

As in other programs of this type, our hero has to go through several stages, running all the time right, jumping and collecting various bonuses. Of course, on the way to the target appears a whole lot of enemies, which should be avoided with a wide arc, because frequent contact ends with our death. The extermination of opponents is facilitated by kicking the ball, which is always at our leg. An air-filled leather balloon is also useful when trying to reach higher platforms than usual. The hero, rebounded from the ball, makes longer jumps.

Soccer Kid is characterized by a pleasant, colorful visual setting and decent sound. Smooth scrolling and excellent character animation also have a positive effect on the aesthetic experience. The game may seem difficult at first, especially due to the need to constantly control the ball, but you can get used to it quickly. For a product of a company with little experience with platforms, the creation of Krisalis is one of the most successful.
