F1 2001, released on PC, PS2 and XBOX, is another edition of a series of racing games published by Electronic Arts, focused on the titular F1 cars. The production is fully licensed by the FIA - F1 2001 uses real names of drivers, car models, or tracks on which individual races are organized. This title is also in competition with Sony's Formula One series.

Game modes

One of the main advantages of this production is an exceptionally wide range of available gameplay modes. F1 2001 allows you to play a single race or a training session during which you can get a closer look at each of the tracks. To enter the main game modes, you need to complete several basic Challenges, including proper control over the car. It should be added, however, that F1 2001 is not a fully-fledged simulator. The game uses an arcade driving model - the players can take advantage of many options to make the game easier like better brakes, indestructibility, or automatic transmission. However, the game has a model of damage. Subsequent crashes can lead to a situation in which the car is no longer suitable for further driving.

The basic point of the game is, of course, the championship mode which follows the schedule of the 2001 season. It should be noted, however, that the player can manually plan the course of this mode, using the appropriate option from the game menu. F1 2001 also has a fully fledged multiplayer. Both versions allow up to four players to play virtual battles. What's more, there are many interesting game modes, such as Last Man Standing or Tag Team Challenge.

Technical aspects

F1 2001 has decent graphics. This applies to both the car models and the realistic environment. The soundtrack consists mainly of the sounds of the engines of the individual machines but it also has professional commentary.
