Shining Soul is another representative of the very popular Shining series, initiated by the title published in 1991. It was a game Shining in the Darkness, which was released on the Genesis console. In the following years, the Shining series has also seen many other products, such as Sega Saturn or PlayStation 2. However, Shining Soul was created exclusively for GameBoy Advance owners. It is also worth noting that in 2003 the game was officially continued. Shining Soul is produced by Next Entertainment studio, which also developed Children of Mana version for Nintendo DS console. This product was designed exclusively for single player.

This game is a representative of the hack and slash genre. This means that we are dealing with an arcade role-playing game, which is mainly focused on stress-free elimination of encountered opponents, and not on solving complicated quests or developing specific coefficients. The Shining Soul action was set in a land called Rune. Our task is to stop a Dark Dragon trying to take control of the whole land. We play the role of a member of the Shining fleet, who managed to imprison the Dragon and his subordinate generals in a zone called Runefaust. As you can easily guess, our task will be to gradually occupy this land, dealing with the troops subordinate to the dragon. The fun begins in a small village called Prontis.

The player can choose a character representing one of four different professions. It can be a warrior, archer, sorcerer or dragonute, i.e. a creature that is the connection between man and dragon. The game takes place in a very similar way to this type of production. We deal with the elimination of encountered opponents, gradually gaining experience points. As we advance to higher levels, we add points to the main factors, such as intelligence, strength or dexterity. In addition, we choose additional skills that our character will be able to use from now on. There are several dozen different boards to overcome. These are mostly forests, clearings, catacombs, or finally vast caves. It is also usually the case that you can go to the exit from a given zone only after killing all the monsters. From time to time we come across definitely stronger bosses. The player can write down the state of the game and start the game from the place where he died. The Shining Soul visual luminaire presents a quite high level of performance. The action is observed in isometric projection. The graphics were kept in a fairy-tale style.
