An online shooter reproducing reality of one of the most important battles of the First World War. Having chosen the side, we create a squad of four soldiers of various specialties and participate in fights in faithfully mapped areas surrounding Verdun.
Verdun is an online action / FPS game transferring us to the times of World War One, specifically to the Battle of Verdun, fought between February and December of 1916. Lasting several months, the defense of the key French fortress thwarted the plans of the German command intending to lead to a rapid collapse of the enemy.
Verdun offers us four game modes in which you can choose the side of France or Germany, and take part in the famous battle alone or in cooperation with other players. The main type of match is fighting in 4-person teams composed of soldiers of different classes and specializations. Each of them is characterized by different skills and type of weapon used, this is why in order to achieve success, a close cooperation of the entire team is required. For victories and fulfilling the tasks given to us during missions, we get experience points which allow for the development of our character and obtaining newer and newer capabilities, both active and passive, and better types of weapons. We can also choose to play in the classical free-for-all model, but then we gain experience much more slower and our soldier is not developing so fast.
The developers put an emphasis on realism and fidelity to the historical facts. The places where fighting was going on -- such as Vauquois, Argonne, Vosges or Caures -- were mapped with almost photographic accuracy. All weapons and uniforms used in-game are exact copies of the real ones. What is interesting, our kit varies with gained experience – we start the game in a uniform from the beginning of the war, and in the course of the character development, we acquire equipment with which German and French troops ended the war in 1918. According to the plan of the developers, it has to reflect the progress made in the armed forces and accessories during the four years of war. Damage is presented very realistically as well. An accurate shot in the head or the chest can immediately eliminate the enemy.
Verdun allows for cross-platform gamin on PCs, as well as the users of Apple computers. Another innovative solution is gaming in the cloud, so that the problems with searching and configurating servers disappear, and each player who sits in front of any computer screen can immediately start playing without having to download and install the game.
Verdun PC players' expectations: 8.4 / 10 calculated from 59 players' votes.
