Ageod’s To End All Wars is an advanced turn-based strategy game that takes the player into Europe during WWI. The period featured in the game spans throughout the years 1914-1918 and includes the entire theater of war, from western Europe all the way to Volga. The game was developed by the French studio AGEOD – specializing in this genre – in tight collaboration with publishing duo Matrix/Slitherine.

Plot

Ageod’s To End All Wars lets us take command of one of the two historical WWI alliances and fight over dominance on the Old Continent across complex land, air and naval battles. In the game we have to care not only for the military aspect, but also economy, technology and diplomacy. The devs prepared two separate campaigns, letting us follow historical events in the years 1914-1918 or realize our own war plans.

Mechanics

What AGEOD is known for, is the complexity and high level of realism of its games. Sheer numbers are impressive – the map consists of over three thousand regions, differing in such details as climate and landscape, which have major impact on the course of battles, shape of the frontline or supply lines. The game contains over 1600 historical leaders, each one with their own individual statistics and abilities. There are over 900 units available, starting with infantry and artillery to aircraft and powerful warships. Command system lets us organize units into brigades, corps, and entire armies.

Game modes

Apart from two single player campaigns, Ageod’s To End All Wars offers multiplayer for up to three people. They can compete in local multiplayer or the oldschool PBEM, still supported by AGEOD.

Technical aspects

Ageod’s To End All Wars is powered by the newest version of the renowned AGE egine, which was specifically modified for the game’s needs, so as to be able to recreate every nuance and factor characteristic of WWI.
