Strategy 01 November 2012

An improved edition of a popular RTS game created by FireFly Studios and originally released back in 2002. The HD edition increases the maximum resolution supported and adds zooming in and out in the isometric view. The game offers the entire content of the original release, supplemented with additional units, scenarios and tactical options introduced in the Stronghold Warchest and Stronghold Crusader Extreme editions.

The game includes not only the basic version of the original title but also its legendary expansion: The Frozen Throne. A remastered edition of one of the most well-received installments of the legendary Heroes of Might & Magic series, created for the 15th anniversary of the game's original release and the 20th anniversary of the franchise. It was commissioned by Ubisoft and developed by DotEmu, known e.g. from the remake of the cult platform game Another World.

An upgraded version of the bestselling 1998 RTS game. Both versions were developed by Blizzard Entertainment. Compared to the original release, the game (including the Brood War expansion) features mainly significantly improved audiovisuals. Although the visuals remain two-dimensional, all the graphic elements have become more detailed. Furthermore, the game supports high resolutions (up to 4K), as well as refreshed audio, which also applies to dialogues between characters.

A remastered and improved edition of Age of Empires II – the second installment in the best-selling real time strategy series, originally released in the year 2000. The enhanced edition has been developed by Forgotten Empires. The improvements implemented herein regard mostly the visuals and the interface – the visuals have been significantly improved, and the game supports 4K resolution. The developers have also decided to implement the symphonic soundtrack to accompany the player’s efforts.

A remastered version of Age of Empire II: The Age of the Kings, a popular real-time strategy game and its expansion - Age of Empires II: The Conqueror. The new edition was developed by Hidden Path Entertainment in cooperation with Microsoft Game Studios. Compared to the 1999’s original, the changes introduced in Age of Empires II: HD Edition involve mainly improved graphics, which were adjusted to HD standard.

Remake of the cult city builder strategy game released in 1999. Pharaoh: A New Era includes both the basic version of this game and an add-on Cleopatra: Queen of the Nile. The graphics, soundtrack and interface were refreshed for the game.

A refreshed version of Age of Empires, a real-time strategy game that debuted in 1997. Microsoft, the company responsible for the new version, focused not only on improving the graphics so that they now support 4K resolution, but on recording a new version of the symphonic soundtrack as well. The title contains the contents of the basic version of the original game and of the Rise of Rome expansion pack. The single player scenarios were expanded with new narrative features.

Age of Mythology: Retold is a revamped version of a classical RTS set in the antiquity period. The game features four playable civilizations. It was developed by World's Edge, known for, among other things, Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition.

A refreshed and improved version of Age of Empires III, a game from 2005 that was the third installment in the series of best-selling real-time strategy games. The new version was developed by Forgotten Empires, a studio that also created remastered editions of the first and second games in the series. Most of the changes are related to the graphics and interface – they were adapted to modern computers and displays. This enabled the game to support 4K resolution.

Homeworld Remastered Collection is a remastered edition of the space strategy that wast first developed in 1999 by Relic Entertainment. The game was rejuvenated by Gearbox Software, studio known for the game series Borderlands and Brothers in Arms. We follow the history of Kushan, a forgotten race that was attacked by an alien civilization and almost entirely wiped out. However, over six hundred thousand of Kushans survived in the hypersleep chambers of a gigantic Mothership.

The new add-on introduces four Asian civilizations: Burmese, Khmers, Malays, and Vietnamese, each with its unique units. Additionally, the game received two new universal units – battle elephants and imperial infantry. The core of the add-on are four campaigns taking place in South East Asia.
