An action-platform game developed by independent Swedish studio Image & Form. The game takes place in an unusual universe that combines the traits of steampunk and Wild West. One of them is the main protagonist of the game, Rusty. While looking for remains of human civilization, he starts a journey deep into the ground where he looks for interesting treasures. During the game the player is traveling through caves, avoiding traps, fighting enemies, collecting minerals and making sure that he always has access to light. Arcade 05 June 2012

A two-dimensional platform game, the gameplay of which references classic installments of the series. The story of the game takes place before the events told in the first installment of the series. The action of the game takes place in a fairytale realm called the Crossroads of Dream. When the world is threatened by an invasion of dark creatures called Hoodlums, the titular protagonist and his friends decide to save it. During the game the player will visit various fantasy realms, jump between numerous platforms (the action is shown from side perspective and the player can move in four directions), get past various traps, obtain new abilities and fight enemies encountered on the path. There is more than a dozen types of enemies, as well as much more powerful bosses. What's more, the game contains levels in which the protagonist mounts other creatures (for example a giant mosquito) and rides it through large areas. Cooperation mode is a novelty in the series – it allows the player to complete all levels while accompanied by up to three friends. The colorful, beautiful graphics generated by UbiArt Framework are a valuable asset to the game. Colorful locations are accompanied by neatly-animated characters and a catchy soundtrack.

Yoshi's Wooly World (3DS)

Arcade 03 February 2017

Three-dimensional platformer for the whole family developed by Nintendo. Yoshi’s Wooly World is set in a world made of yarn. We play as the titular green dinosaur Yoshi, one of the main mascots of the Japanese company; the game expands on concept of Kirby’s Epic Yarn. We received a classic platformer in 2.5D, in which our hero is followed by running eggs, which can be shot at various targets or parts of scenery. Thanks to the world being made of yarn, many objects can be unraveled to unlock new paths and secrets. Yoshi’s Wooly World offers a cooperation mode for two players. Each three-dimensional location is made of virtual yarn, and every character resembles a handcrafted puppet filled with cotton.

A sandbox platform game by indie studio Re-Logic, sometimes called the 2D version of the popular Minecraft. There is no set goal; your task is basically to shape the randomly-generated world around you. At first you only have a few basic tools, which allow you to dig and find resources, chop wood, and create simple structures. As the game progresses, due to the extensive crafting system, you discover better tools, allowing you to create advanced materials and to fight monsters. There are many possibilities in the game, and the only restriction is your own imagination. Terraria features a single player mode, but you can join forces with other players, thus gaining precious allies, who can help you with the more challenging tasks.

The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes (3DS)

Arcade 22 October 2015

One of the numerous installments of the popular The Legend of Zelda series that dates back to the end of the 80s. The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes was developed solely with Nintendo 3DS in mind. The characteristic feature of the game is the three-player cooperation mode where we can join forces with our friends to defeat bosses, solve complicated puzzles, and complete subsequent levels. Totems, which are towers that consist of three characters standing on one another, are interesting result of cooperation. Thanks to this, heroes can reach places that are otherwise inaccessible or hit a strong opponent in his weak point. Naturally, The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes lets us play solo, as well. In such case, we control each of the three characters interchangeably. Clothes and weapons we find give us special abilities: they can help us dodge enemy attacks, enlarge bombs, or let us perform attacks unavailable to other characters. The game features simple and not very detailed graphics which are, on the other hand, very colorful.

A classic dungeon crawler with turn-based combat system, developed for the 3DS portable console. The game is the second (after Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth) spin-off of the popular series of Japanese role-playing games developed by Atlus. The protagonists of Persona Q2 are the cast of Persona 5 from 2016. The game utilizes gameplay mechanics and principles of the Etrian Odyssey series. It is a typical dungeon crawler in which player is traveling through a series of dark labyrinths while observing the action from a first-person perspective. Player’s party can consist of up to five characters, each of which has unique skills and attacks, taken from the main entries in the Persona series. Shovel Knight is a classical 2D platform game with elements of adventure and RPG, set in fantasy world. The title is a debut of the independent studio Yacht Club Games, hiring, among others, former employees of the experienced Way Forward studio. In the production, we impersonate a titular knight who, with the help of a legendary shovel-like weapon, fights the mysterious members of The Order of No Quarter. Traversing subsequent locations, our hero faces scores of enemies, including difficult bosses. Interacting with certain elements of the environment, he solves series of puzzles, facilitating the completion of a given level. Gameplay is modeled after classic platform games like Mega Man and Castlevania. Its old-school character is emphasized by pixel-art graphic design. The game lets you play alone or in a local multiplayer mode for up to 4 players.

Super Mario Maker 3DS (3DS)

Arcade 02 December 2016

A portable version of the awarded level editor that allows the players to create custom levels for the games from the Super Mario Bros. series. Similarly as in the original title, published by Nintendo in 2015, the gameplay consists of creating two-dimensional platform game levels. The title is very simple and intuitive, and this edition was enriched with touch screen support. Super Mario Maker 3DS, similarly as its predecessor, enables the player to quickly test created levels in order to easily add required improvements. However, unfinished work can be shared with other players only locally. Each feature of the game was adapted to two graphics styles – the original one that references the 8-bit Super Mario Bros and the style of Super Mario Bros. U. The game also supports amiibo figurines thanks to which the player can unlock new skins for the protagonist.

Mighty No. 9 (3DS)

Mighty No. 9 is an arcade platformer developed in 2.5D by the experienced Japanese developer Comcept; the title draws inspiration from the renowned Mega Man series. The storyline is focused on the character of mighty Beck, the only robot who resisted an extremely dangerous virus, which arouses aggression among mechanical beings. It is the task of our protagonist to eliminate the danger and return the order to the world of the robots. The gameplay mechanics in Mighty No. 9 are very similar to those of the classic 8 and 16 bit console era hits, and during our playthroughs we are faced with a lot of running, jumping through consecutive ledges or platforms, and combat, where we have the chance to use our hero’s powers and abilities. During the skirmishes we are occasionally aided by an additional character, which appears in the moments of greatest danger. The newest Comcept production is powered by Unreal Engine technology; in addition to the single player campaign it also offers a special mode for challenges and the opportunity to cooperate with other users through the Internet.
