WWW Video Games2

Actually, browser games are part of the PC games category, but playing in a web browser make them so different that they deserve to be classified as an entirely separate kind of games. Most of the browser games are simple massive multiplayer online titles with poor graphics and many social options. However, there are exceptions to this rule.

RPG 15 January 2015

A web browser MMORPG based on the free-to-play business model. In the game developed by the Turkish Sala Game, a player gets to explore a diversified and colorful fantasy world with multiple locations. Particular lands are densely filled with numerous activities allowing players to familiarize themselves with the universe as well as continue with the story and gain the experience necessary to develop their characters and their abilities. The developers decided to implement peculiar mechanics into their game - apart from the free exploration and completing quests, a player can enjoy additional modes featuring e.g. The Crypt (eliminating consecutive enemy waves), Treasure Hunt (digging up precious items), Hero Trial (fighting a powerful boss), and Arena (PvP battles). In battles, a player can count on the companions he recruits on his journey. RPG 07 April 2016

A sequel to the browser MMORPG game League of Angels. Similarly as the first installment, the sequel is a free-to-play game with microtransactions. League of Angels II invites the players to a fantasy world in which a constant fight against the forces of evil takes place. Combat in the game is turn-based and can be fully automated, allowing the team of a few persons to perform attacks and special attacks on their own. Selection of characters, their equipment and development is an important aspect of the game, as is adapting tactics and positions of team members to the situation at hand. New characters are obtained in League of Angels II as rewards but they can be also bought for real money. The game offers many gameplay modes. Despite the fact that it is a MMORPG title, it offers the possibility to play alone, for example in the Arena mode in which one fights for points that enable the player to buy items. It is also possible to creature guilds and fight against other players. League of Angels II offers three-dimensional graphics with style that is similar to one used in Japanese RPGs.

A World War II submarine simulator developed by Blue Byte Software for internet browsers. The player assumes the role of a German captain of U-Boot and completes missions given to him by the fleet command. The missions are frequently based on historical events and take place during historical campaigns such as the Battle of the Atlantic. The gameplay is based on maneuvering the submarine and controlling the weapons installed in it. Despite the fact that most of the time the player will focus on watching various indicators, the periscope allows him to search for enemy units in real time. The main attraction of Silent Hunter Online are the multiplayer battles. A special system is observing the successes and failures of each commander. The game features high quality three-dimensional graphics.

Nyrthos is a browser action RPG inspired by the fan-favourite Diablo series and developed by the independent Czech studio BeerDeer. The game takes place in a fantasy world that is on the brink of war with the armies of darkness. We play as a hero who tries to stop the invasion of evil. Our character can use swords and magic in combat. With time and experience, we will level up his abilities and upgrade his equipment. As in many similar games, we will also explore dungeons in search for treasures. The world of Nyrthos constantly changes under the influence of our actions. New locations, quests, and enemies will appear in the game as we play. When we are not busy adventuring, we can buy an estate or create our own village and manage it. In addition to the single player campaign, Nyrthos offers an Arena Mode where heroes fight with hordes of enemies for additional Honor points and higher online ranks.

Strategy canceled

An online strategy game which is a browser-based version of the cult Panzer General series. It was developed by Blue Byte Software. The action takes place during World War II although the production's approach to the subject is far from realistic. In Panzer General Online, we participate in turn-based battles that, even though inspired by historical ones, are quite loosely based on actual events. The game offers both a single player campaign and a multiplayer mode. Combat is turn-based, which is characteristic of the series, and apart from infantry, we can command armored forces, air force, and many other units. The title is enriched with elements of collectible card games — while playing, the players have to collect cards that symbolize units and construct their own decks that are then used in subsequent battles.

Action 13 September 2013

SUPERHOT is an unusual FPS developed by Blue Brick studio. Finished in just 7 days, the first version of the game was presented during the 7 Day FPS Challenge in 2013. Gameplay of SUPERHOT consists of eliminating subsequent opponents in sterile rooms and corridors, where time stands still as long as the player doesn't move. The game focuses not on the shooting itself, but rather on achieving the mastery of time control which allows you to dodge bullets while accurately aiming at the heads of your enemies. You start the game with no weapons, but you can find them on enemies’ corpses. Ammunition is limited and even a single shot can kill your avatar, forcing you to restart the game. SUPERHOT features a minimalistic visual style with a palette of colors basically limited to white, dominating the environment, contrasting with red opponents and marks left by the bullets.

Strategy 02 September 2014

A browser MMO strategy game and a sequel to the popular production from Inno Games studio. Once again we are taken to a medieval setting, with our task being to build a small village and develop it to a size of a fortified town. This requires us to secure our access to resources and recruit strong army to raid or conquer enemy’s settlements. The core of the gameplay is the idea of players banding themselves into eponymous tribes, making waging war and expanding territory much easier. Game mechanics have remained unchanged, though visuals and user interface have been slightly improved. The developers also made sure to offer new structures to build (hospital, tavern, and monastery) and introduce two types of units. As its predecessor, the game is distributed using a free-to-play model, supported with microtranscations.
