A free-to-play two-dimensional platform fighting game from the independent studio Blue Mammoth Games – the creators of a browser MMO game Dungeon Blitz. The production combines elements of 2D fighting games and platformers. Gameplay comes down to engaging in combat on multi-level maps. The fighting system is purely arcade, so what really matters is speed, strength, mastery of combos, and the skillful use of individual abilities of particular characters. The game features dozens of fighters from different epochs and genres – knights, pirates, and even aliens. Each character has a different story and fighting style. Brawhalla features both a single player campaign and multiplayer for up to 8 players. Even though the game utilizes old-school 2D graphics, backgrounds and characters are displayed in high definition.
Regalia: Of Men And Monarchs (PSV)
A turn-based RPG focusing strongly on strategic aspects and created by Pixelated Milk - a Polish developer. The player is taken to a peaceful fantasy world and assumes the role of Kay Loren - a young nobleman whose father reveals on his deathbed the existence of a distant land belonging to their family. Once the protagonist arrives in the place, it turns out that the entire land is ruined and the family was charged with a large debt. Kay decides to restore the ruined city to its magnificent state and take back the neighboring areas from the wildlife occupying them. The player's tasks are to construct buildings, gather resources, develop technologies and manage the land appropriately, so it can generate adequate amounts of money. Exploration, completing quests given by NPCs and turn-based combat are all of high importance here. The protagonist can be accompanied by four other characters with unique abilities, which can be developed alongside progression.
Tokyo Tattoo Girls (PSV)

A strategy game that takes place in isolated Tokyo that was split into twenty three zones controlled by groups known as Kumi. Together, the groups are known as the Union. It is said that escaping this unusual prison is possible by defeating all of the Kumi. The game was developed by Sushi Typhoon Games and it enables the player to control teenage girls who are trying to escape the city. The protagonists have various abilities provided to them by the titular tattoos. These abilities enable them to fight their opponents. The progress in conquering the city is shown on a tactical map with influence zones of specific groups marked on it. Tokyo Tattoo Girls features nice looking manga-like graphics. Despite the cartoonish looks, the title was developed for mature audience – it features violence and some nudity.
Yomawari: Midnight Shadows (PSV)

Yomawari: Midnight Shadows is a horror action-adventure game developed by the Japanese studio Nippon Ichi Software and a sequel to Yomawari: Night Alone. The game takes place in modern-day Japan and tell the story of two girls, Yui and Haru, who can't find a way back home from their trip to the mountains. To make matters worse, they got separated after a short while. In terms of gameplay mechanics, Yomawari: Midnight Shadows will test our agility and wit. As we play, we explore a city that drastically changed when the sun came down and try to make the girls meet. The campaign have segments where we will play as both Yari and Haru. Actions we take as one of them influence the fate of the other. Our heroines are practically defenseless, so we will have to do anything we can to avoid any kind of confrontation. Gameplay however does not only focus on sneaking around. From time to time we will have to simply run away or defeat ghosts with the help of various items.
YIIK: A Post-Modern RPG (PSV)

YIIK: A Post-Modern RPG is a surrealistic jRPG set in the 1990’s. It was developed by the independent studio Ackk Studios, creators of games like Chromosphere: The Two Brothers and Two Brothers. Story focuses on the mysterious disappearance of Sammy Pak who was taken by supernatural forces while using an elevator. her friends decide to go on a dangerous journey to save her. Single player campaign will give us around twenty five hours of gameplay. Our party of eight moves around an isometric-presented map, every once in a while taking part in turn-based battles against our enemies. The game uses Unity Engine. Visuals in YIIK: A Post-Modern RPG are much different from what we could see in other jRPGs as the game lacks any sort of manga-inspired style. All of the game's dialogues are voice acted.
The Banner Saga (PSV)
Inspired by the Nordic mythology, a cRPG developed by the independent studio Stoic, whose members worked on, for example, Star Wars: The Old Republic. The action takes us to a world where fratricidal bloodshed between the gods led to chaos and wars. This is an "on the road" type of story, divided into two main plot branches, telling the stories of two Viking parties trying to escape from the threat posed by a mysterious, stone-like race called the Dredge, born as the result of gods’ experiments. Set in fantasy realities, the gameplay combines adventure and RPG elements with a turn-based combat system. With game's progress, your party gains experience and becomes more and more powerful. Also, the decisions you make will exert heavy influence on the plot. The game features amazing 2D graphics, employing art style similar to that of Walt Disney productions.
Edge of Eternity (PSV)
A third person action-RPG combining the most important aspects of Japanese role-playing games with medieval atmosphere and elements of the steampunk subgenre. The game was created by Midgar - an independent French studio, mainly known for mobile apps. The action takes place in Heryon - a fantasy land whose inhabitants have come under the threat of an alien civilization capable of turning both humans and animals into metal monsters. The player assumes the role of a young farmer by the name of Daryon, who is willing to confront the danger. The story is set in three main locations, including a mercantile town, a citadel controlled by the authorities, and ruins of the old capital city. During the journey, the player encounters randomly generated monsters and mutants. The game offers a turn-based combat system enriched with several modern-day mechanics. For instance, the player can spy on the enemies, checking which one is going to take the next action; one can also combine their spells together for a more powerful effect. The creators paid a great deal of attention to the soundtrack, which was composed by Cedric Menendez and inspired by works of Nobuo Uematsu, Jeremy Soul and Hans Zimmer.
Secret of Mana (PSV)

Secret of Mana is a remake of the classic action jRPG from 1993. The game was developed by Square Enix. The original title was released in Japan under the title Seiken Densetsu 2. The game takes place in a fantasy world that the player must save from the powerful Empire. During the game the player is exploring the world, speaking to non-playable characters, completing quests and fighting enemies by using an action-based combat system. There are three characters in the party, each with different special skills. The player controls only one of them while the remaining two are controlled by artificial intelligence. It is possible to freely switch between the characters. Compared to the original game, the remake features new three-dimensional graphics and improved soundtrack. The developers dubbed all dialogues and improved some gameplay mechanics.
Forgotten Memories (PSV)
Forgotten Memories is a survival horror developed by Psychoz Interactive, combining elements from both classic and modern games of the genre. The game takes place in an abandoned mental hospital where some horrifying things have happened in the past. Forgotten Memories tells the story of two police inspectors who end up in that hospital while searching for a serial killer. As it soon turns out, the hospital is not abandoned and our heroes have to face the nightmares that dwell in the dark. We play as Rose Hawkins and observe the game from a third-person perspective. The game combines elements from the classic and modern survival horror games. We will use a wide range of weapons to face our enemies, but we will also have to hide or simply run to survive. Key to achieving that lies in cooperation with our partner. We will also have to face powerful bosses and solve some puzzles from time to time.
Battle Princess Madelyn (PSV)
A two-dimensional platform game developed by the independent studio Causal Bit Games (the creators of Insanity’s Blade that was released in 2014). During the game the player controls princess Madelyn who was forced to fight evil in order to save the kingdom and her family. The gameplay of Battle Princess Madelyn relates to classic titles like Ghosts ’n Goblins and Ghouls ‘n Ghosts. The game focuses on the agility of the player, making him escape traps and jump between platforms while fighting skeletons, demons and big bosses. At the beginning of the game Madelyn lacks any armor and powerful weapons, but she is accompanied by the ghost of a dead dog named Fritzy. After some time the pair gains new weapons and better powers that enable them to, among other things, shoot fire. The levels hide many secrets, including hidden areas. The game also features two versions of soundtrack – one references 8-bit consoles and another is a modern version of it.
An old school 2D platform game developed by independent Polish developer Tomasz Wac³awek. The story of the game was inspired by the cult movie Kill Bill directed by Quentin Tarantino. In the game the player assumes the role of a mysterious woman who intends to get rid of five influential owners of a corporation. In order to do it, the protagonist must get through series of heavily guarded locations while being equipped only with katana and a hook that allows her to climb on walls and attach herself to the ceilings. The key to success in the game is the ability to silently sneak up behind the backs of guards and cameras; a good plan and its perfect realization. The battles are played by marking targets and at any moment of the game the time can be stopped in order to plan the next move. The graphics of the game have retro style, similar to platform games released in eighties and nineties.
Persona 5: Dancing Star Night (PSV)

Another entry in the series of action music-rhythm games that utilize the soundtrack from the main entries of the jRPG Persona series developed by Atlus. The gameplay mechanics are based on simple principles and – similarly to other music games – focuses on pressing buttons at right time, when their symbols appear on the screen. Persona 5: Dancing Star Night features a few gameplay modes, including a visual novel story campaign that takes place in Persona 5 universe. The game uses the engine and technology from the fifth main entry in the Persona series. The game features a few dozen of tracks from Persona 5, some of which are remixes created by various artists. The developers also included some completely new songs as a bonus.
Zodiac: Orcanon Odyssey (PSV)

A tactical jRPG with a turn-based combat system. It was developed by the French studio Kobojo in cooperation with Kazushige Nojima and Hitoshi Sakamoto who previously worked on several installments of the Final Fantasy series. The story of Zodiac: Orcanon Odyssey takes place in a fantasy world divided into four regions inhabited by various races. The player becomes a young warrior named Cael who leads a patrol that neutralizes threats from potential enemies. During the game the hero travels through various realms, faces many dangerous creatures and learns the dark secrets of the Orcanon world and his own past. The game shows the action from a side perspective and combines classic jRPG elements with modern, console-style graphics. The game was designed with cooperative multiplayer in mind and at any moment of the game one can invite some friends to join the adventure.
Soul Saga (PSV)
A game developed by American studio Disastercake. The title was inspired by classic jRPG games released on the first generation of PlayStation consoles. Soul Saga takes place in a fantasy realm called Oterra which was devastated by a powerful cataclysm and then gradually conquered by hostile monsters known as Inkheart. Thirty years earlier the forces of evil were stopped by the grand alchemist who created a magic barrier impenetrable for the monsters. When the spell is starting to weaken, the player assumes the role of a young adventurer named Mithos who, together with a group of companions, is trying to find a way to save the civilization. Gameplay mechanics of Soul Saga are strongly inspired by such series like Final Fantasy, Breath of Fire, Suikoden and Persona. The game concentrates on exploring the world, developing characters and facing enemies in turn-based combat in which correct selection of attacks is the key to victory.
Crossing Souls (PSV)

A retro-styled action-adventure game featuring RPG elements, created in cooperation by Fourattic and Devolver Digital. The story is set in California, in the year 1986, where a bunch of kids playing in the forest discover a mysterious artifact which allows them to bend the laws of physics and travel across the border between life and death. The unsuspecting characters are thrown into the midst of a government conspiracy led by a ruthless general who wishes to acquire the artifact for his evil purposes. The player observes the levels from above. The gameplay consists mainly of exploration, combat, treasure hunting, and puzzle solving. In the game, the player will have the opportunity to take control of five characters in total - each has their own different skills. The biggest feature of the story comes with the time travels, during which the player encounters hundreds of characters from different historical periods. The game is enriched with cutscenes that bear a resemblance to cartoons from the 80s.
Shakedown Hawaii (PSV)

An old-school open-world action game and a sequel to Retro City Rampage developed by Vblank Entertainment. The action of Shakedown Hawaii takes place 30 years after the events presented in its predecessor. The protagonist has grown really old and got himself a large belly. Dramatic events forced him to take up arms once again and to rebuild his crime empire. The gameplay mechanics improve on the ideas from Retro City Rampage and bear a strong resemblance to the first installment of the cult-classic Grand Theft Auto. The action is observed from an aerial view when traversing the open city area on foot or by vehicles. While playing, we perform various primary and secondary quests, using a rich arsenal or firearms, and the gameplay is enriched with elements of economic simulation that lets us manage the protagonist’s business. The game is realized in retro style and features a large dose of absurd and undiscriminating humor.
Rainbow Skies (PSV)
A sequel to the 2013 jRPG Rainbow Moon, nominated for the Best Indie Game on PSN. Rainbow Skies features a completely new protagonist and a different world, although everything remains consistent with the universe created by SideQuest Studios, consisting of two open parallel worlds with expansive dungeons to explore. The gameplay is similar to the game's predecessor's, featuring turn-based combat. The mechanics, however, have been expanded: for example, new attacks have been added, and the dungeons are now filled with more action elements and dedicated minigames. Rainbow Skies also features a new dialogue and side quests, in which e.g. a treasure-hunt-type quests have been introduced. There is also an option of a cross-platform gameplay.
Shovel Knight: King of Cards (PSV)
The last expansion to a well-received game titled Shovel Knight. Both the add-on and the base game have been developed by Yacht Club Games. The main protagonist of the expansion is the titular King of Cards, who is one of the bosses a player has to fight as the Shovel Knight in the base game. The main protagonist has to prove his rights to the crown by defeating three usurpers from the neighboring lands. Similarly to the base game, Shovel Knight: King of Cards is a 2D platform game with RPG elements. The new hero fights and moves in a different manner than the previous protagonists - he mounts a short charge, which stuns the enemies and destroys some of the obstacles on the map. He also has a special ability - he can perform a pirouette on enemies' heads multiple times. As one progresses through the story, he acquires more powerful weapons, armor, and new companions. An interesting element of the game is the minigame, in which one can play cards with NPCs. The gameplay revolves around the story campaign, which is well complemented by special challenges, in which one can test his skills in platform puzzles as well as combat.
City Run London (PSV)
Created by City Quests Games, a third-person stealth action game set in the 16th-century London. You assume the role of “The Moth,” an agent known for her stealth abilities, who is also an ally of the Dominican Brothers. When the government spies reveal the true identity of the heroine, and some of her supporters get imprisoned in the Tower of London, the protagonist must set them free before the sunrise. In City Run London you need to keep a low-profile and sneak behind the guards’ backs, because open combat will most certainly lead to your death. A special radar that shows the range of sight of NPCs will help you avoid detection. The game features attractive, 3D graphics in a vivid, comic book-like style.
Pixel Noir (PSV)

An independent retro RPG, which combines the elements of a detective game and a horror. The main protagonist of Pixel Noir is trying to solve a mystery of the tragic events from a decade ago when his partner died and as a result he had to quit working as a police officer, as he unjustly was sentenced to jail. After being released, he begins to work as a private detective and tries to solve minor cases, until finally, he found a lead that might help him get the answers that have been taunting him for years. As befits a true RPG, in Pixel Noir, players get to explore numerous locations, interact with NPCs, find clues, collect valuable items, and fight the enemies. Combat is turn-based, nonetheless, it features certain arcade elements. The main protagonist is accompanied by other characters, each one exhibiting unique skills and utilized weapons. Pixel Noir delivers neutral and grim pixel-art visuals.
