The game takes place in the 19th century Japan and tells the story of a young girl named Chizuru Yukimura, who travels to Kyoto in search for her father, a respected physician and scientist. Lost in the city, she is being helped by the members of the Shinsengumi - a law enforcement group, whose job is to fight the revolutionists opposing the shogun. When she finds out the truth about her father's research, Chizuru is forced to unravel a complicated political crime scheme. A key to achieving victory in the game lies in befriending the helpful police officers. Our adventure takes place in a way characteristic to the genre. The dialogues in which we take part are presented with 2D, slightly animated visuals. From time to time we will have to make a decision that will influence the game's plot.
Samurai Warriors 4: Empires (PSV)
Action 17 September 2015
Another installment of the third-person hack ‘n’ slash action games developed by Omega Force. The title takes the players to feudal Japan and lets them take part in Battle of Okehazama and Battle of Sekigahara. The title is focused on stories of individual characters that we choose before the adventure starts. At the core of Samurai Warriors 4: Empires lies real-time combat with hundreds of units participating. In battles, we make use of a wide range of melee weapons and advanced martial skills or every hero. The above is complemented by strategy elements that involve managing territories we control. The outcome of battles is influenced not only by geographical structure of the terrain but also the overall political situation. The eponymous Empires mode, which is divided into sets of scenarios, lets us play both solo and in cooperation with other players. Moreover, the so-called Creative Mode allows us to design our own missions from scratch.
Samurai Warriors 4-II (PSV)
Action 11 February 2015
An upgraded version of the fourth installment in the Samurai Warriors series, which came out for the tenth anniversary of the franchise. Developed by Omega Force, the game was released not only for Sony's consoles, but also for PCs. The game is a conventional TPP slasher featuring spectacular battles. Samurai Warriors 4-II is set in Feudal Japan, and the player takes part in subsequent encounters, fighting both smaller groups of enemies and entire hordes of them. The game offers dozens of Japanese characters to choose from. In comparison to the core Samurai Warriors 4, this edition brings several significant changes. The game brings two modes - the Story Mode (offers thirteen new scenarios) and Endless Castle (a mixture of the Survival and Challenge modes from the previous installments). Gameplay as such was modified, as more emphasis was placed on strategic elements, an ability to combine weapons together (to obtain more powerful versions) was added, and the character development system was remodeled. Apart from a singleplayer experience, the creators included a co-op mode.
Samurai Warriors: Spirit of Sanada (PSV)
Action 23 November 2016
Another installment in the series of dynamical action games traditionally developed by Omega Force. This time the player assumes the role of Yukimura Sanada, one of the more popular protagonists of the series. We follow his story from birth, through the trainings that prepare him to combat, to the civil war and death during the siege of Osaka. The gameplay is similar to the one present in the previous games in the series and is based on battles with thousands of participants. Among the improvements created by the developers there is a selection of game modes – the adventure starts in the “castle city”, a base from which we can not only select playing mode but also participate in various side activities. The main mode of the game is a historical war campaign during which the player has freedom to select tactics and optional objectives. What’s new are the “Long-term Battles” – fights that take many hours and have a day and night cycle. Samurai Warriors: Sanada Maru has high quality graphics provided by the engine created for the fourth main installment of the series.
