ARK: Survival Evolved (PS4)

A sandbox survival simulator set in an open world, which draws inspiration from productions such as DayZ. Unlike in the aforementioned title, this time we fight against powerful prehistoric creature instead of zombies. The game is the debut of an independent studio called Wildcard, founded by a former employee of Microsoft Game Studios. The player begins the game defenseless and naked on an unidentified island, and his or her task is to survive in this new, harsh environment. In order to do that, we must hunt and gather various raw materials which will be used to create the much needed weapons and tools. One of the most fun aspects of ARK: Survival Evolved are the meticulously depicted creatures – the game features more than 60 species of dinosaurs and prehistoric mammals. Since the title features o multiplayer experience, meeting other players in the game world will happen and, depending on their attitude, we can fight them or establish valuable alliances.
Jurassic World: Evolution (PS4)
Created by the seasoned developers from Frontier Developments – a studio known for creating the RollerCoaster Tycoon series) – Jurassic World: Evolution is an economy strategy game set in the universe created for the movie series of Jurassic Park/Jurassic World. The action of the game takes players to a near future, in which human scientists managed to develop a technology allowing them to recreate the DNA of prehistoric reptiles. During the game, a player assumes the role of a manager of an amusement park, in which visitors can see with their own eyes the dinosaurs brought back to life. As befits a tycoon game, the player is tasked with creating and exhibiting new species of the reptiles as well as taking care of the entire park’s infrastructure, visitors’ security, and a number of additional attractions. The main aspect of Jurassic World: Evolution is economy – all actions a player takes have to be aimed at the constant development of the park and increasing the venture’s profitability.
LEGO Jurassic World (PS4)

Another reincarnation of the highly popular action-adventure game franchise originated in mid-90’s, sporting a license on the world’s most famous brand of toy bricks. This production by Traveller’s Tales Studios was created for the premiere of the film Jurassic World, however, the game’s story spans across the whole bestselling Jurassic Park trilogy. The game is set on Isla Nublar, an island known from the movie, which is actually a one of a kind amusement park with prehistoric reptiles brought back to life through cloning processes. As a result of a chain of experiments, a new dinosaur species was created by scientist, which is a combination of a Tyrannosaurus and a Velociraptor. Unfortunately, the beast escapes, becoming a direct threat to all visitors. When it comes to gameplay mechanics, the game employs the traditional solutions used in the series, with action-adventure elements and a gallery of characters known from the original movie.
ARK: Aberration (PS4)

ARK: Aberration is a non-standalone expansion for ARK: Survival Evolved, developed by Studio Wildcard. The basics of the gameplay remained the same, blending a multiplayer action game with sandbox and survival elements. Instead of introducing revolutionary mechanics, the expansion focuses on new content. ARK: Aberration allows you to visit a new ark with irradiated areas and expansive underground sections. It is inhabited by mutant animals and a humanoid monster race known as the Nameless. The DLC also features many new items, adding e.g. climbing equipment, wingsuits, zip-lines, and previously unavailable crafting and building resources. There are also new challenges to complete, as well as new threats, such as earthquakes, gas leaks, or radioactive zones.
ARK: Survival of the Fittest (PS4)
An online action game focused on PvP competition and a spin-off installment of the ARK series. The title started out as a fan modification which was eventually made into a standalone production with the support of Survival Evolved’s developers. The gameplay premise of ARK: Survival of the Fittest was directly inspired by the popular movie series The Hunger Games. As many as 72 players divided into several six-member teams can play simultaneously. While playing, the participants can make use of a rich arsenal of weapons, armor, and traps. Taming dinosaurs and using them as mounts is also of great importance. The competition takes place in specially-designed closed arenas, up to the moment when there is only one team left standing. The tension is increased by the constantly shrinking circle of death which forces the players to clash more frequently as matches progress.
ARK Park (PS4)

An exploration game designed exclusively for Virtual Reality headgear – ARK Park takes players to a futuristic Jurassic park. The action of the game includes references to the popular online survival game called ARK: Survival Evolved. In the game, one can observe the natural habitat of dinosaurs, and even ride the gigantic reptiles. The locations one gets to explore are much diversified – there is a tropical jungle, snow-capped mountain peaks, and even vast steppes. During his journey, a player can use a camera, solve relatively simple puzzles, and learn about over 100 dinosaur species – their genes serve as collectibles. Moreover, ARK Park introduces a zoo, in which one can play with the animals the genes of which he has acquired – this means stroking, feeding, and even painting them. The game is based on Unreal Engine 4, thus the visuals featured in the game are of high quality.
ARK: Scorched Earth (PS4)

The first big expansion for the survival-oriented action game ARK: Survival Evolved. The developer of the base title, Studio Wildcard, once again takes the players on a journey to a completely new world. The players are taken to varied, sun-burnt locations such as sand dunes, mountain tops, canyons, no man’s land, oasis, or finally, deserts. Each of the locations has an distinctive ecosystem, while the traveling around the world is expedited by the ability to create caravans, or even fly on a wyvern’s back. The add-on expands the crafting system, incorporating the ability to craft boomerangs, or even chainsaws, as well as items necessary for survival in inhospitable areas, including tents and wells. ARK: Scorched Earth introduces new dangers such as sand storms, while too much exposure to sun may result in a stroke. The expansion requires the base game to function – but thanks to that, the players can transfer the new content – domesticated animals, equipment and buildings – to ARK: Survival Evolved playthroughs.
