Invited to the headquarters of the eponymous secret organization, employing people with psychic talents from all around the world, he discovers that the group is in serious trouble and it is up to him to rescue them.

The game's title is a blend of the protagonists names. Yooka, the first of them, is a chameleon who has an unusually long tongue, which can be used to grab onto various surfaces and cover large distances. The other one, Laylee, is a bat who can use sonic attacks.

The actual gameplay is rooted in that story, for the player assumes the role of said warrior, who was created by the god of dreams in order to eradicate the nightmares invading this world.
