Playerunknown's Battlegrounds (XONE)
An online shooter with elements of survival, focusing on a Battle Royale type of competition (the last man standing wins). Playerunkown’s Battlegrounds is a game from the developers of TERA MMO and the creator of Battle Royale mods for Arma II and Arma III. The rules of the game are simple: a large number of players are put together in a big closed location with only one mission – to eliminate everyone else. A game ends when there is only one player left alive. Participants start off completely unarmed, so the first phase is basically a race for the best weapon. Players can make use of various kinds of traps, and the game offers much freedom when it comes to choosing the methods of eliminating enemies. An extra help for that comes from a simple crafting system, which lets you construct items from gathered resources. Playerunkown’s Battlegrounds’ fast-paced gameplay is further increased by the fact that the map is gradually getting smaller, making confrontations between players more frequent.
Fortnite: Battle Royale (XONE)
Action 26 September 2017
Fortnite: Battle Royale is a free-to-play multiplayer action game developed by Epic Games. The game is based on the battle royale formula and is similar to e.g. PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. A hundred players are transported onto an island with almost nothing in their inventory. A player is tasked with finding or looting weapons, traps, and other pieces of gear. The game offers players much leeway - one can run around and shoot as much as he likes, nonetheless, he can also assume the stealth approach, hide in an appropriate spot and eliminate the foes with a sniper rifle. Additionally, one can acquire more resources from buildings, trees, etc. and use them to construct numerous objects such as stairs, covers, and bridges. The only objective a player is tasked with is staying alive until the end of a match. This task is even more difficult due to the fact that the battlefield shrinks continuously. The game has been based on Unreal Engine technology, also used in the production processes of such games as Final Fantasy VII Remake and Tekken 7.
An MMO shooter with survival elements, set in a world after a zombie outbreak, developed by the Daybreak Game Company studio. The title is one of the two alternative versions of the survival sandbox game formerly known as H1Z1 that was divided into two independent productions during the early access stage. Unlike H1Z1: Just Survive, that remained faithful to the developers' original concept, H1Z1: King of the Kill focuses on dynamic action and players competing in one of several PvP modes, spearheaded by the Battle Royale mode, well-known from the original game. The game features also some elements of survival: before the struggle begins the players get a little time to gather resources and create equipment that they will use to fight their opponents. However, in contrast to the original game these elements were marginalized.
Paladins: Champions of the Realm (XONE)
A multiplayer-oriented first person action game developed by Hi-Rez. The action takes place in a slightly unusual fantasy world featuring advanced technology, including firearms and vehicles. Ironically, all of the technological advancements present here are powered by magic. The gameplay focuses on online battles between small groups of players controlling characters belonging to different available classes, each having distinctive weapons and four unique skills. The battles are very fast-paced in any of the several different game modes. The most important is the Siege, in which a great siege engine appears on the battlefield. Furthermore, the game diversifies the experience by adding elements of card games - the players can build card decks. The cards can provide a character with different bonuses, and three of them, selected at random, are available to use during a match.
The Culling (XONE)
Action 06 October 2017
Developed by Xaviant Games, creators of Lichdom: Battlemage, The Culling is a multiplayer first-person survival game. It is heavily inspired by such titles as The Hunger Games or Battle Royale. As one of 16 contestants, you are sent to an island where, in order to win, you have to kill everybody else before they kill you. Prior to a battle, each contestant can choose three perks, which provide various bonuses and useful skills. Focusing on close combat, the game offers a wide array of melee weapons, allows you to set traps, and features an extensive combat system that allows you to attack in many different ways. There are also bows and firearms available, but they do not play a crucial role in the game. Apart from a very simple crafting system, there is also a big collection of useful items that can come in handy during battles.
Darwin Project (XONE)
The Darwin Project is a third-person Battle Royale-like action game developed by Scavengers. The game takes us to the post-apocalyptic Canada, whose citizens have to face the impending ice age. As a preparation before the cataclysm, incapacitated convicts are ordered to take part in a fight to death in order to find the master of survival. The Darwin Project, just like other similar games, takes place on a big arena where players fight each other until only one of them is left alive. Each playable character has their own unique abilities, strengths and weaknesses. The environment in which the game takes place can be as hostile (or even more) as other players. The Darwin Project uses the Microsoft's Mixer streaming system which allows the viewers to influence the outcome of the game by, for example, giving their favorite player a shield.
