First-person psychological horror from Polish development studio Bloober Team, known best for another horror game, entitled Layers of Fear. Observer is set in a cyberpunk universe, in Cracow of 2048. In the game you play as Daniel Lazarski (starred by Rutger Hauer, known from the film Blade Runner), a detective able to hack into people’s minds. The game’s story starts when the main hero gets a letter from his missing son, who turns out to be a high-ranking engineer working for a powerful corporation. The protagonist picks up an investigation that takes him to the slums of Cracow and forces him to relive dark memories and nightmares of both criminals and their victims. When it comes to gameplay, Observer is a first-person adventure game with survival horror mechanics. Most of the time the player explores grim locations and interacts with characters encountered on the way. An important aspect of gameplay are sequences in which the protagonist hacks into minds of suspects and becomes part of their worst nightmares.

Sequel to a best-selling science-fiction FPS released in 2006. After many perturbations haunting the series, the development has been commissioned to Arkane Studios, the creators of Dishonored series. Prey is not a continuation per se, rather a peculiar reboot of the original 2006’s installment of the game; both games share only the FPS science fiction setting and the necessity to single-handedly fight hostile extraterrestrials aboard a space station drifting through the cosmic void. The main protagonist is Morgan Yu – a man or a woman, depending on the player’s choice. Morgan is a part of a scientific project working towards enhancing the human race. Throughout the game he / she has to face hordes of aliens with unique features and abilities. Some of these abilities can be adopted by Morgan and utilized in a creative way. Players can also make use of a wide range of futuristic weaponry and gadgets.

A dark action-RPG, whose story is set in the 20th century England. The title was developed by the French studio DONTNOD, known for games such as Remember Me and Life is Strange. The game takes place on the streets of London, during the infamous Spanish flu pandemic. We assume the role of a respected military surgeon who returns from a front lines to stop the spread of the plague. On the way home, however, he is bitten by a vampire and now has to continually struggle between the calling to help people in need and his new bloodsucker nature. In the game, we wander through the open world of London, undertaking main and side quests, talking to NPCs, and fighting in real time with different kinds of vampires and their hunters. Furthermore, we need to satisfy our constantly growing hunger for blood, remembering to do it discreetly and to wisely choose potential victims, since elimination of a wrong person can render us unable to complete certain quests.
Outlast 2 (XONE)

The sequel to Outlast, a 2013 first-person survival horror and a successful debut of the Red Barrels studio. As the authors decided to abandon the themes initiated in the first part of the series, the game does not return to the dark psychiatric hospital located somewhere in the mountains of Colorado. Instead, Outlast 2 takes place in a completely new location and tells the story of new characters. However, original gameplay mechanic characterized by the inability to fight encountered enemies, remained unchanged. Player's character has no combat skills and survival consists mainly of avoiding direct confrontations. In some cases, an escape turns out to be the only solution. When fleeing, the game's complex model of movements, inspired by the parkour technique, is a great help.

It was created by Polish developer Bloober Team, known for such titles as BRAWL, A-Men and Music Master: Chopin. The game is set in an ominous manor, while you assume the role of an insane painter striving to finish his masterpiece at all cost. Gameplay boils down to exploration, as the player searches for the source of the hero’s madness and the tools needed to complete the painting. While playing, you experience strange visions and fears born in the protagonist’s mind, making the task much more complicated. The game is soaked with dark, psychedelic atmosphere, which is further deepened by fitting audiovisuals.

A survival horror action adventure game. It is the debut project of the independent studio, Red Barrels, established by veterans of the gaming industry: David Chateauneuf, Philippe Morin, and Hugo Dallaire. Outlast’s story is set in an old asylum for mentally ill, adapted, by the Murkoff corporation, into a research center. Journalist Miles Upshur gets his hands on information that strange things occur in that place. Looking for a sensation, he breaks into the asylum, hoping to discover a shocking truth about the experiments and profane rituals. We observe the game world from first-person perspective, and our only weapon is a camera with infrared lens. Gameplay focuses on exploring locations and avoiding direct confrontation with enemies. Due to a terrifying atmosphere and gore aesthetics, game is aimed exclusively at adults.

A direct sequel to a successful survival horror: The Evil Within. Both titles have been developed under the watchful eye of Shinji Mikami, the author of such video game series as Devil May Cry and Resident Evil. In The Evil Within 2, players yet again assume the role of detective Sebastian Castellanos, who travels to a seemingly idyllic town in search for his daughter. What he does not know, however, is that the town hides a horrible secret. The game allows players to observe the action from a third-person perspective to better experience the survival horror setting. The main protagonist gets to venture through gloomy and claustrophobic locations, as well as larger open spaces often filled with horrifying enemies. To fight off the threat, detective Castellanos can use his firearms; however, due to survival horror games’ convention, the ammunition is scarce. Another solution is to take the stealth approach and quietly eliminate the foes with a crossbow. Of course, one can also decide to run for it. In The Evil Within 2 Sebastian can use a comlink to consult his friend – Julia Kidman – who eagerly guides him through this horrible reality.

A platformer game by Tarsier Studios. The player assumes the role of Six, a heroine who was kidnapped by monsters and locked in an underwater complex called The Maw. Her task is to escape this terrifying place which is difficult because of dangers, inspired by childhood nightmares, that lurk behind every corner. In Little Nightmares, the action is presented from a side view and the core of the gameplay is searching the atmospheric locations, hopping from platform to platform, and solving environmental puzzles. Given that the protagonist is equipped only with a lighter, we have to avoid direct confrontation with nightmarish opponents and try to sneak past them unnoticed. The title boasts high-quality three-dimensional graphics and is distinguished from among other platformer games by its dark style and toned-down colors.

Focusing around the asynchronous multiplayer mode, a third-person action game adaptation of the classic horror movie Friday the 13th. Known for the tactical simulation series Breach & Clear, Gun Media studio is the developer of the game. The key figures connected with the film series, such as Sean S. Cunningham, Kane Hodder, Tom Savini, and Harry Manfredini, have had their hand in the production. The action is set in the close vicinity of the Crystal Lake, a location known from the movies, and gameplay revolves around multiplayer mode for up to 8 players – one player assumes the role of the murderer Jason Voorhees and the others play as his potential victims. Jason needs to, of course, kill every other player, while the victims’ objective is to avoid getting murdered and, with a bit of luck and cooperation, to exterminate the masked psycho. The game is created in a way which gives the players a feeling of constructing their own movie script.

Inside is the second project of the independent Danish studio PlayDead, which became famous by creating the cult game Limbo. The game's development was partially funded by a grant from the Danish government. The story tells about a young boy who must stop the forces of evil that are trying to take over the world by experimenting on humans. The gameplay mechanics are similar to classic platformer games. They combine the necessity to solve various puzzles with tasks requiring reflexes and good manual skills. The game takes place in a dark universe where the rain never ceases to fall. The visuals of the game are similar to the ones used in the previous bestselling game developed by PlayDead studio. However, this time the world is three-dimensional. The colors in the game are toned down and the music is atmospheric. The game was created by using the popular, multi-platform Unity engine.

A sequel to the cooperative online shooter - Killing Floor - which came out in 2009 as a commercial version of a standalone Unreal Tournament 2004 modification. The sequel was prepared by the creators of the original – Tripwire Interactive, also known for another popular game modification, Red Orchestra. Just as its predecessor, the game features a negligible story, instead focusing on combat between a team of elite soldiers and hordes of mutants created in a series of experiments carried out by a medical corporation. Gameplay focuses on fighting off waves of enemies that precede a boss fight on the end of a round. After each round the team of players can regroup, repair damaged barricades, and spend money earned in combat on new weapons and ammo. Advancing to higher levels unlocks useful character abilities. This new game exceeds the last one in terms of graphics and features a realistic physics engine.

A post-apocalyptic sandbox FPS developed by a debuting indie studio The Fun Pimps. The game takes you to a near future, when a nuclear war allowed a dangerous virus to spread across the entire world. The virus kills its victims in 7 days, as the title suggests, and turns them into bloodthirsty zombies. You play as one of the few not infected people, fighting for survival in Navezgane County, Arizona. 7 Days to Die allows you to freely explore its open world, adjusting the story to your actions. To help you survive in this hostile environment, the game introduces a well-developed crafting system that lets you gather food and resources to make useful tools and fix or upgrade your hideouts. The authors prepared a campaign for solo players, as well as a score of online modes, both competitive and cooperative.
Dead Island 2 (XONE)
A second major installment in the sandbox action game series created by the Polish studio Techland. This time, the development has been entrusted to Yager Development, an independent developer team mainly known from the shooter Spec Ops: The Line. As far as the plot goes, the game follows the events shown in previous chapter. The plague that transformed people into living dead has gone out of control, and began spreading throughout California. The quarantine zone intended to contain the epidemic is currently full of soldiers sent in to root out the plague, but also degenerate thrill-seekers as well as residents who refused to leave their homes. In this dangerous open-world environment, we will undertake a series of tasks, mainly coming down to fighting hordes of zombies using unconventional, self-made weaponry. The majority of RPG features known from previous game are present in the sequel, such as advanced level up system and several different character classes.

A first-person survival horror game developed by Polish development studio IMGN.pro. The game's story is inspired by true events that took place in 1959 at the Dyatlov Pass in the Ural mountains, where the dead bodies of nine Russian hikers were found, and the cause of their death remained unclear. We only know that most of them died of hypothermia, and evidence indicates that they were forced to flee from an unknown danger. In the game we explore an open, icebound world, having only a map and a compass at our disposal. On our way to reach the goal, we have to deal with many dangers lurking in the mountains. There is no combat, and the only way to survive is by escaping. A special system called "fear manager" has been developed for the game. Depending on the player's actions, it adequately handles all the factors responsible for building an eerie atmosphere, which makes each new game a bit different.

An asymmetric multiplayer action game, based on a classic horror movie storyline: a group of young people being harassed by a murderous psychopath. It was created by Behaviour Interactive, known for such titles as Warhammer 40K: Eternal Crusade or Naughty Bear: Panic in Paradise. In Dead by Daylight, four players take on the roles of ordinary people trying to survive the encounter with a murderer, who's being controlled by the fifth player. You experience the game through a first-person perspective when you play as the villain, and from a third-person perspective when you play as a potential victim. To survive, the victims have to be clever, set traps, and sometimes simply run away. In fact, it is easier to survive when you're working together as a group, but nothing stops you from betraying the others and saving yourself at the cost of their lives. Dead by Daylight features several varied types of murderers, and the game's maps are generated procedurally.
Inner Chains (XONE)
The debut production from Telepath's Tree, a Polish studio consisting of the former members of CD Projekt RED, People Can Fly, and Flying Wild Hog. The game is a horror first-person shooter that takes the player to a dark world combining biology and mechanics, where terrifying monsters pose a constant threat. The gameplay combines classic shooter mechanics with those of a surrealistic horror. Dealing with enemies requires the player to use bith conventional weapons and the environment. The action takes place in an semi-open environment that offers the player several alternative ways to reach the objective. When it comes to visuals, the game makes the most of the Unreal Engine 4, featuring an interesting art style, inspired by the works of a Polish artist - Tomasz Strzalkowski. It is a tasteful game world with dark locations that evoke a constant feeling of anxiety and uneasiness.

A horror game developed by the independent studio Wales Interactive, which was inspired by an urban legend of a demonic witch. The protagonist, searching for her lost daughter, is led to a grim mansion that hides a dark secret. In Don’t Knock Twice, the action is presented from the first-person perspective, while the gameplay is focused on exploration of the vast house in search of carefully hidden hints as well as fighting encountered opponents with the use of various items. In case of powerful enemies, the protagonist has to flee, and with caution, in order not to be attacked by surprise — the game is full of so-called jump scares. The production is characterized by high-quality three-dimensional graphics and an atmospheric soundtrack. Moreover, the title supports VR headsets but doesn’t require them in order to work.

A 2D adventure game inspired by supernatural horrors, developed by Night School Studio, a debuting team founded by the former workers of Telltale Games. We take on the role of a girl named Alex, who is about to graduate middle school and to celebrate that, she travels with a group of friends to an island that has been the students’ customary place to say their farewells. As it turns out, during the party Alex and her companions have accidentally opened a gateway to another dimension, and the peace of teenagers is interrupted by increasingly strange phenomena, such as unnatural sounds and specters. Since a ghost's presence can’t always be detected with the naked eye, the heroine has to resort to a special radio that, after finding the proper wave frequency, helps her prepare for the possible attack in advance. The dark atmosphere of Oxenfree is complemented by climatic graphics, employing common horror movie filters, as well as an ominous soundtrack.

First-person adventure game in the form of a psychological thriller and the debut of an independent Italian studio Lka.it. The game's plot is set in an mental institution located in the Italian town of Volterra. Creators of The Town of Light decided to depict in their game the history of an actually existing place, focusing on dramas of its residents, treated by facility staff like animals. In the game we play the part of a 16-year-old girl named Renee who comes to the asylum in hope of recovering her lost memories. Her task is complicated by the fact that she suffers from schizophrenia, and during exploration she is constantly accompanied by her various fears and other symptoms of her condition. During the game we explore subsequent, carefully reproduced rooms of the asylum, slowly discovering all of its dark secrets. Depending on our actions, story can develop in a nonlinear way.

The Zombies Chronicles add-on is a compilation of remastered versions of the top eight zombie mode levels from previous Call of Duty games. Call of Duty: Black Ops III - Zombies Chronicles came up with maps from Call of Duty: World at War (Nacht der Untoten, Verruckt, Shi No Numa), Call of Duty: Black Ops (Der Toten Cinema, Ascension, Shangri-La, Moon) Call of Duty: Black Ops II (Origins). Compared to their original versions, those locations sport higher resolution graphics, sharper textures and more impressive visual effects. Each level can be played either solo or in co-op mode for up to four people. Gameplay is based on fending off consecutives waves of zombies – as you play you must also look for weapons and other useful items, construct barricades, and use a variety of devices and traps.

A first-person horror adventure game. Our hero is a two years old child, with all the physical and mental traits of this age. He gets woken up from sleep by a mysterious sounds and realizes that his mother is missing, so he decides to search for her together with his teddy bear. The gameplay focuses on exploring the gloomy household distorted by the child's imagination, while solving simple puzzles and searching for a way to reach subsequent locations. Additionally, you have to avoid imaginary monsters and find family memories, which are the only way to tame our hero's imagination. Since you are playing as a little child, most of the time you will be crawling or walking slowly, only occasionally running, for short period of time.

The first official DLC add-on to the bestselling survival horror Outlast from the same developer, Red Barrels studio. It takes place before the events shown in the main game. Players take role of one of the employees of Mount Massive asylum, a facility that secretly conducts human experiments. Discovering the terrifying truth, responsible for which is the Murkoff corporation, he decides to sent an anonymous denunciation that ends up in hands of Miles Upshur, the protagonist of the basic game. A set of new, previously unseen, locations inside the hospital has been created for the DLC, as well as new enemies that we will face while exploring Mount Massive.
A psychological horror game and the debut work from SadSquare - an independent studio. The story is non-linear and focuses on a gloomy household that has seen many frightening events throughout the years - it has a history of driving entire families insane, leading to numerous killings and suicides. The protagonist is trapped inside the house, and apart from getting out of there, their goal is to solve the mystery behind the place. The players explore the in-game environment, solve puzzles requiring them to manipulate various objects, and search for clues related to the dark past of the haunted estate. Avoiding contact with ghosts dwelling in the estate is a significant element of gameplay, as the protagonist is incapable of fighting them. Visage utilizes the Unreal Engine 4, which is at the source of the game's high-quality visuals. Furthermore, the game supports VR goggles, though one does not require them in order to play it.
