Star Wars: Battlefront II (XONE)
Action 17 November 2017
Star Wars: Battlefront II is a sequel to the 2015 multiplayer FPS game and the fourth game in the cult series that was started eleven years earlier by Pandemic. Unlike the previous game, Battlefront II offers both a complex multiplayer mode and a single player campaign set right after the destruction of the second Death Star. Iden Versio, the game's protagonist and the leader of the Empire's special forces, is given the task of avenging the Emperor. Different studios developed different parts of the game. The single player campaign was created by studio Motive, lead by Jade Raymond. Space battles were created by Criterion, and the multiplayer mode, key element of the game, was developed by DICE. Up to forty players can take part in online battles and play one of the four available classes. Additionally, we can customize characters, vehicles, and gadgets. It is worth mentioning that the game presents more than the original trilogy (episodes IV-VI). We will meet, and play as, heroes from different eras of the Star Wars universe, like Rey and Kylo Ren from The Force Awakens or Darth Maul from The Phantom Menace.
No Man's Sky (XONE)
A science-fiction, sandbox action game with a focus on multiplayer mode. It was created by Hello Games, company known for the colorful arcade production Joe Danger. The game is set in the distant future in the yet uncharted parts of the cosmos, and the gameplay is presented in two forms. We explore the successive corners of the universe piloting a spacecraft, like we do in typical space-sim productions. Upon landing on a newly discovered planet, the game switches to first-person view. The authors emphasize the complete freedom given to the player during exploration. While visiting places featuring different animals, plants, or even varying composition of the planet's atmosphere, we can focus on exploration, acquisition of raw materials, or the combat against various predators. An important element of the game is the system of procedural generation of worlds, which creates their virtually every element, from the smallest features of the surface to the entire star systems and galaxies.

A space-themed shooter game with roguelike elements and the first production by the team at Rockfish. The members of the studio used to work for Fishlabs, the creators of the mobile series Galaxy on Fire. Everspace is set in the far future, when humanity has colonized myriads of planetary systems. The plot, which is an important element of the gameplay, was written by Falko Löffler, the writer of Jack Keane or the Ankh series. Unlike other space shooters, whose mechanics are focused on complex simulations, Everspace features an easy, user-friendly controls model and dynamic battle system. You observe the world both from the cockpit perspective and through a camera lens placed above your ship. During the game, you explore the open-world galaxy, gather resources, fight enemies, and complete quests. You also have to take care of repairing your ship when its gets damaged in battle and upgrading it. It's very easy to die in Everspace and the world around you changes as you respawn.

Brave pilots seek easy money working beyond the territories controlled by these entities. Kerbal Space Program (XONE)
Simulation 15 July 2016
This is the debut from the independent developer Squad. The game is an unusual simulator requiring the player to develop their own space program from scratch. Kerbal Space Program combines features of many genres, but the most important part here is an extensive ship editor, which allows the player to design and build their own, unique spacecraft. The ship is then supposed to fly and land safely on a moon of the Kerbin planet. The spaceship is built from various elements - each of them affects it in flight and serves a specific purpose. Thanks to a realistic flight model, the player is capable of observing the effects of their work and monitoring a set of parameters describing the ship. Apart from the basic, sandbox mode, the game offers a set of story missions requiring the player to recruit a team, conduct research, build bases and visit dozens of planets.

The first expansion is called Planetary Landings and allows the players to land on the surfaces of specific planets, which have been designed in an extremely credible manner and scale. Before we choose the area of our landing, we can conduct a scan of the surface, revealing any crashed machines, resources or enemies. Additionally, the developers have supplied the players with a special vehicle – the Scarab, which preforms extraordinarily in a variety of environments and can be used both for exploration and combat. When it comes to technical matters, the Frontier Developments studio has made sure that we can transition fluently between the surface area of a planet and vastness of space, without any in-game loading screens.

As Adr1ft takes place in environment with no gravity, we can move freely in all directions, with the only limitation being the need to replenish our supply of oxygen and the length of the rope ensuring that we won’t float away into open space. We discover the game’s plot mainly through audio diaries, which describe the stories of people who worked on the station and answer the question concerning the cause behind this disaster.

The protagonist can also be developed — the experience points we gather while playing can be spent on enhancing skills from the extensive skill tree. The available specializations include exploration, technology, the ability to find and extract raw materials, and typical survival talents. The characteristic feature of RymdResa is its retro visual layer and the original soundtrack composed by Tom Croke and Pat Jacobs. It is also worth noting that the game world is generated procedurally so every playthrough not only offers a different space map but also unique challenges to tackle.
Star Hammer: The Vanguard Prophecy (XONE)

Apart from the campaign, a single player skirmish mode was included. Mechanics-wise, Star Hammer: The Vanguard Prophecy is a 3D tactical space strategy, but compared to its strictly turn-based predecessor, the game is played in the WeGo system - the player gives orders to their units and observes the effects afterwards in real time, still being able to modify the orders in the active pause mode. Several classes of spaceships are at the player's disposal, offering different weaponry and roles to be fulfilled in combat. Different factors influence the course of the battle, such as reconnaissance, selection of units and tactics, or caring for the soldiers' morale.
Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime (XONE)
Arcade 09 September 2015
A 2D arcade game with platformer elements, and the debut of the Canadian indie developer Astro Base. During the gameplay we step into the shoes of one of the two operators of a small space station, and it is our task to defend it against consecutive waves of enemy attacks. The missions are played out in randomly generated locations, and the players need to navigate the corridors of the station in order to reach the various control consoles that are located inside them. These consoles will allow us to, e.g. activate the station’s engines, defensive systems and gun emplacements. The production has been designed with a co-op mode for two players in mind, and strict cooperation and coordination between both operators is required in order to achieve success. In cases where a second player is unavailable, they will be replaced by an AI player. One of the most distinguishable qualities of the Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime are the colorful, highly abstract 2D visuals and an old-school, electronic soundtrack.
Vostok Inc. (XONE)
Action 26 July 2017
Developed by Nosebleed Interactive, a space shooter enriched with elements of the so-called clickers. Vostok Inc. is set in distant future times and the player assumes the role of a newly chosen chairperson of the titular company. When exploring space, the player travels among 40 planets, encountering different threats, such as hostile vessels or powerful bosses. In combat, the player makes use of a large weaponry developed over time in a complex crafting system. The other, strategic layer of the experience involves landing on the encountered planets in order to colonize them and acquire valuable resources. As the company develops, the player recruits new specialists. In the free time, one can play one of 13 old-school mini-games inspired by hits released a few decades earlier.
Starfighter Origins (XONE)
A combat simulator which places the player in control of a starfighter. Developed by an independent British team - Mad About Games Studios Ltd., the game was inspired by space simulators from the 90s. Starfighter Origins is set in a futuristic world, where humans explore space and pirates are waiting among asteroids for unarmed transport ships and other easy loot. The player assumes the role of a pilot working for the Colonial Defense Force - a law enforcement group that use various kinds of combat ships in order to maintain order in space. The player has six unique ships to fly in the game, including fast, reconnaissance units with powerful radars, classic fighters - they handle well and are well-armed, and heavily-armored support craft. Eliminating the enemies involves use of both rapid-fire cannons and auto-targeting missiles. When fighting, the player must pay attention to how much resources they have left - both fuel and ammunition, as not every mission gives an opportunity to re-fuel the ship and refill ammunition. The game delivers exclusively a single-player experience. The four modes available include the story campaign, the Simulation and the Challenge modes (a series of independent scenarios), and the Instant Action mode. The last of these requires the player to choose a difficulty level at the beginning; both the battlefield and type of enemies are assigned randomly.
