Battle Islands: Commanders (XONE)
Strategy 14 February 2017
A simplistic RTS game focusing on quick multiplayer duels and employing free-to-play business model. Battle Islands: Commanders was created by the experienced DR Studios, and the game extends the formula of 2013's Battle Islands. The game simplifies the traditional RTS mechanics, but supplementing them with elements borrowed from card games and tower defense titles. Each duel is fought using the cards one has in their deck, which can be modified to one's liking. New cards can be found in chests received for victories. Cards of the same kind can be combined together to improve the firepower and durability of one's tanks and other units. Contrary to the classic RTS games, the player cannot control particular units manually - the player only chooses when and where to place a unit and the rest is done automatically, as the subordinates simply join the battle. Placing various units on the battlefield should be done with caution however, as sending a tank to a zone where the enemy has already placed a soldier with a rocket launcher will have catastrophic consequences.
Battle Ages (XONE)
Strategy 20 April 2016
A real-time strategy game distributed by using the free-to-play model. The game was developed by DR Studios and it allows the player to lead a civilization through various stages of evolution, since the Stone Age, through antiquity, medieval and renaissance, to the final years of the 19th century. At first the player assumes control of a simple settlement which then expands its size and adds new buildings. Industrial and military buildings provide access to various upgrades, new technologies and military units. The type and availability of units depends on the current era of the nation controlled by the player. The battles with enemy armies are played in an unusual way – the player lacks direct control of his troops and the outcome mostly depends on the number of units on each side of the conflict. Battle Ages offers both single player and multiplayer modes. The story missions are accompanied by a competitive PvP mode that allows the player to attack other civilizations. The rather nice graphics also help in creating a positive image of the game; however, the limitations caused by the F2P distribution model somewhat disturb that image. Various processes require much time to accomplish and they can be accelerated by using microtransactions.
Siegecraft Commander (XONE)
Strategy 17 January 2017
A warfare-oriented strategy created by Blowfish Studios, notable for the warmly-received Gunscape. Siegecraft Commander takes us to a fantasy universe, fought iver by Knights of Freemoi and tribes of Lizardmen. The game offers a single player campaign, allowing the player to control both factions. In this case, the game is similar to a traditional real-time strategy. For a change, the multiplayer mode allows us to choose between real-time gameplay and a turn-based one. The battles were inspired by tower defense genre, with the players conquering more and more territory until they clash. There is a catch, though – each tower has to have a direct link to the center, and if the chain is broken, every subsequent link is destroyed. In order to win, every player has to build complicated installations, able to sustain heavy losses and remain functional. Siegecraft Commander employs a light-hearted, slightly cartoonish visual style.
Bladestorm: Nightmare (XONE)
Strategy 29 January 2015

The game developed by Omega Force yet again takes players to the period of the Hundred Years’ War that was waged in medieval Europe between England and France. A player gets to assume the role of a mercenary fighting for one of the aforementioned countries. In terms of its mechanics, the game is a combination of an epic strategy game somewhat resembling several installments of the Total War series, with a slasher typical for consoles. The game puts a strong emphasis on planning consecutive skirmishes as well as managing one’s forces during the battles. At any moment during the game, one can enter the battlefield himself and fight for his faction with his own fair hands. In comparison to its original release, Bladestorm: Nightmare features a whole new story campaign, as well as many fantasy elements which allow a player to face not only the enemy knights but also fantastical creatures such as goblins and dragons.
