The main theme of The Walking Dead: Season One revolves around a dramatic struggle for survival in a world infested by zombies. The player assumes the role of Lee Everett, one of the few survivors. The gameplay emphasizes exploration, dialogues, collecting items, and puzzle solving. The most significant feature are in-game moral choices the protagonist has to make, and whose consequences are often made visible only after some time. The developers created a highly interactive environment to give the players a good degree of freedom in puzzle solving. The Walking Dead: Season One catches the eye with its comic-like style, achieved with cel shading.

The third full-fledged season of the popular series of episodic adventure games developed by Telltale Games based on the cult comics and TV series, The Walking Dead. The mechanics of the game are similar as in previous installments of the series and they concentrate on exploration and conversations with non-playable characters. In difference to classic adventure games, The Walking Dead: Season Three lacks typical puzzles and the focus is on making various moral choices which are the main factor that shapes the story of the game. A new feature in the game is a special system that allows moving saved games between various platforms. It is possible to import saves from Season Two and continue the plots started there with all consequences of the choices previously made.

The Walking Dead: March to War is a free-to-play mobile multiplayer strategy game based on The Walking Dead franchise. It was developed by Disruptor Beam, a studio known for games like Game of Thrones Ascent or Star Trek Timelines. March to War has optional microtransactions. The game takes place near Washington, D.C. some time after the zombie epidemic began. We lead a group of survivors and try to keep them alive in their post-apocalyptic reality. In order to do so, we will have to extend and upgrade our base, manage our resources, and do missions. We will also have to find and recruit other survivors. Each of them has their own story, personality, and abilities which we can level up. All deaths are permanent, so losing a high level survivor can be painful. The so-called Council system plays a crucial role in the game. The Council is made of characters we know from the comic books. Each of them is a skilled survivor, making them great leaders of mission squads. It is almost impossible to achieve victory by playing by ourselves. The Walking Dead: March to War forces to create alliances with other players in order to defeat common enemies.

The fourth major installment of the cult series of survival horrors created by Capcom. In the game the player assumes the role of ex-cop Leon S. Kennedy, a character well known from the second entry in the franchise. As a special agent responsible for protecting the presidential family, he goes to Europe in order to find the missing daughter of the US president. The trail leads to a small village in Spain. The village is controlled by a mysterious sect and the citizens are infected with a virus which causes mutations. During the game one will face hordes of zombies as well as more demanding bosses, such as giant monsters or the powerful leader of the sect, Osmund Saddler. Resident Evil 4 retains the dark feel of the previous installments and the game contains puzzles, but gameplay mechanics were greatly changed and the new engine allowed the developers to create faster and more dynamic action sequences. The game also contains many quick-time events.
Plants vs. Zombies 2: It's About Time (AND)

A full-scale continuation of crazy tower defense/strategy game, which successfully merged the popularity of this causal genre with the never-ending interest in zombies. It has been prepared by the creators of the original title, an experienced developer of budget productions, PopCap Games studio. The main theme of the series is an invasion of the undead, who are craving for human brains and have formed a powerful army to achieve this objective. But once again, smart plants (and their owner) stand in their way, armed with the strangest of weapons that can foil zombies’ plans. The gameplay comes down to securing subsequent patches of our lawn in a way that will prevent brain-eating monsters from reaching their target. The sequel offers even greater variety of fields and plants, not to mention black humor, typical feat of the series.

The Walking Dead: Road to survival allows you to lead a group of survivors, (which the fans of this universe should be familiar with) who find shelter in the town of Woodbury. It turns out that the leader of this almost idyllic place is the psychopathic Governor, whom you need to fight. The Walking Dead: Road to Survival focuses on the plot and often forces you to make difficult moral decisions, which can heavily influence the story. You also have to manage the survivors. You need to take care of their further survival, develop their abilities, and choose their equipment. During the missions taking place outside the town, the survivors fight zombies in turn-based combat. Apart from that, you have to gather resources and expand your base. You also can attack the towns of other players in a simple multiplayer mode.

In Death Road to Canada the player's task is to travel the eponymous route from Florida to the city of Ontario in Canada and to survive the hordes of zombies attacking us along the way. In the game we control a team of up to five characters (human or animal), each of which has its own unique virtues and vices. Therefore, apart from having to search for other survivors, constantly gather supplies, and eliminate subsequent hosts of living dead, an extremely important element of the game is ensuring that our group members won't quarrel with each other. Gameplay is undoubtedly more attractive due to the fact that almost all of its elements are randomly generated, so each time we start the game a different story awaits us. The game features old-fashioned pixel graphics, reminiscent of the classic arcade hits.

The plot of The Walking Dead: Season Two is a continuation of the story from the first installment. This time you play as the 11-years-old Clementine, who, like the other characters, is trying to survive in the world infested by a zombie epidemic. The game mechanics remain the same, focusing on exploration, talking to NPCs, searching for items, and solving puzzles. The decisions you make affect the story even much later in the game. Like the first installment from 2012, The Walking Dead: Season Two was released as a series of episodes.

A spin-off of to the popular tower defense game series, depicting rivalry between the eponymous plants and hordes of zombies. Developed by the creators of the franchise, PopCap Games studio, the production is recommended for those who love humorous, fast-paced gameplay combining elements of strategy with third-person action. We control a selected plant and try to protect our defensive structures against incoming hordes of enemies. The game focuses on cooperation and teamwork, and the proper usage of each plant’s properties, like healing or floating above the ground, are the key to success. Compared to main Plants vs. Zombies games, Garden Warfare offers high-quality visuals running on Frostbite engine, the technology used e.g. in the Battlefield series.

A game belonging to the popular tower defense genre. It's theme, however, is rather unusual, for the players' task is to protect their household against the attacking hordes of zombies. The game was developed by PopCap Games - a company popular for successful arcade-logic games, such as Peggle Deluxe or Bejeweled. In Plants vs Zombies, the levels are made of paths along which the zombies are coming. The player's task is to secure each of those paths. Interestingly, the player's fortification comprises of various plants and flowers growing outside of their house. Each kind of plant has a unique ability. These include things like production the in-game currency, attacking, slowing down the enemies, or exploding in front of them. Zombies are equally diversified - there are many types of attackers, differing in appearance, equipment, and armor. All the subtleties of gameplay are gradually revealed and explained to the players. The game stands out with its atmosphere of comedy, deprived of serious undertones and tension. This was achieved mainly by colorful visuals and a cheerful soundtrack.

A turn-based strategy game for mobile devices, based on the popular TV series by AMC Network. The Walking Dead: No Man's Land takes us to a post-apocalyptic world overrun by the living dead, while the production’s plot is strictly connected to the TV series. Gameplay-wise, it is a classic turn-based strategy game. While playing, we command a small group of humans who fight hordes of hungry zombies. Given that we are outnumbered, the key to success lies in crowd control and avoiding confrontation with overly numerous groups. Between missions, we develop and manage our base. It is necessary to construct buildings, gather resources, issue commands to other survivors, and manage what little resources we have. The Walking Dead: No Man's Land doesn’t go easy on the player — every death is permanent and human losses are inevitable. This fact often forces us to make hard moral choices about who lives and who dies.
The Walking Dead: Michonne - A Telltale Games Mini-Series (AND)

A three-part episodic adventure game by Telltale Games that came out as an expansion to The Walking Dead: Season Two. The game takes us back to the world where human population was decimated by a zombie virus. As the title suggests, it focuses on one of the most recognizable characters from the original graphic novel – Michonne, the series' relentless, sword-wielding heroine. Since the original story revealed only shreds of her past, the game tries to fill in the gap by depicting the events that caused Michonne to leave Rick, Ezekiel and the rest of the group, and why she came back. Gameplay mechanics is the same as in the previous installments in The Walking Dead series, therefore, you mainly explore, talk to other characters, and make tough choices that determine how the story unfolds. The game does not include logic puzzles, which usually are the landmark of the genre, instead featuring simple action sequences.

The plot of Dead Effect 2 follows the events from the first installment – again you find yourself in the distant future on the deck of space ship ESS Meridian, the crew of which turned into bloodthirsty zombies. This time the player faces a much greater evil, that hides inside the vessel and threatens every survivor’s life and sanity. Compared to the first part of the game, mechanics of Dead Effect 2 are basically the same and again concentrate on ship exploration and fighting monsters. From time to time you come across logic puzzles and boss battles. Of course, the game introduces new locations, enemies, and additional types of customizable weapons. Moreover, each of the three playable characters can be developed with a variety cybernetic implants.

A spin-off of the Call of Duty franchise for mobile devices, developed by Ideaworks Game Studio, the creators of Call of Duty: World at War Zombies. Just like in that production, the gameplay of Call of Duty: Black of Zombies is focused on defense against the oncoming hordes of the living dead. The game features the characters and maps from one of the main installments in the series, Call of Duty: Black Ops. You can play as one of several soldiers, including Tank Dempsey, Nikolai Belinski, Takeo Masaki and Edward Richtofen, as well as the characters from the secret Dead Ops Arcade mode. The soldiers fight with a wide array of firearms, such as the ray gun, the Monkey Bomb and the SPAS-12 shotgun. One online match can involve up to four players, who take on the roles of their chosen soldiers and team up to defeat the hostile zombies. Call of Duty: Black Ops features a voice chat option to make the communication between the players easier, and a system of microtransactions, which allows the players to purchase equipment and quick revive packs.

Best Sniper: Shooting Hunter 3D takes place in a postapocalyptic world, when North America became a wasteland after a failed experiment, whose goal was reviving dinosaurs. When the remnants of humanity are being threatened by the bloodthirsty humanosaurs and hungry zombies, the protagonist can only grab their weapon and face the danger. The game utilizes a first person's perspective, although you can only look around you, not roam freely, just like in most similar mobile productions. The gameplay focuses on the story campaign, in which you have to complete a series of missions involving eliminating enemies both on land and underwater. You gather experience points and special rewards, allowing you to upgrade your weapons with 15 varied modifications.

A science fiction first-person shooter by BadFly Interactive, inspired by such franchises as Dead Space and Mass Effect. The action takes place in 2045 aboard ESS Meridian, a space freighter. In the game, we assume the role of a Unit 13 spec ops operator who, after waking up from cryogenic sleep, discovers that most of the crew is dead and the rest turned into bloodthirsty zombies. Wading through subsequent decks of the vessel, the protagonist has to uncover the mystery behind those uncanny events. Gameplay-wise, Dead Effect emphasizes action and combat. Occasionally, we also look for collectibles in the form of tablets and special holograms as well as ammunition and cash, which allows us to enhance our weapons arsenal. Apart from the story campaign, the game features a survival mode where we fight for our life on special arenas.

Zombie Gunship Survival offers decent visuals – it should be mentioned that the gunship and its weaponry were faithfully recreated according to their real life counterparts.

Rebuild 3: Gangs of Deadsville takes us to the near future, to a world where a worldwide zombie epidemic has left the civilization in ruins and changed the big cities into huge cemeteries. The players assume control of a small group of survivors that attempts to rebuild one of the smaller cities and create a safe haven from the living dead. The gameplay is turn-based, while our job is to fortify and rebuild the damaged buildings to create a line of defense against the zombie hordes. We also engage in research, as well as send our men to various missions, including food hunts, resource gathering, or item acquisition. The gameplay is enriched by an extensive storyline involving numerous moral choices.

This time the developers from Coffee Stain Studios decided to ridicule sandbox survival zombie apocalypse games. The title of the DLC references to MMO game DayZ which for a long time remained in Steam Early Access. Goat Simulator: GoatZ is a purchasable expansion which requires the core version of the game to work. The title offers a large open world filled with various attractions and easter eggs. The goat protagonist must face aggressive zombies in which various weapons created with a simple crafting system helps him. The player must take care of the needs of the character – especially hunger which must be appeased every five minutes in order to remain alive. Goat Simulator: GoatZ is filled with bugs left there on purpose in order to parody cases of Early Access games.

The player takes on the role of a mercenary, whose task is to contain a zombie epidemic in New York, before it turns into a global apocalypse. The game is a typical representative of the FPS genre - the player is required to eliminate regular zombies, as well as some more powerful bosses, using a wide set of available weapons. The protagonist can also make use of various special abilities, such as bullet-time or rapid fire in a 360 degree radius. Battles take place in various urban locations and after each operation, the player returns to the base where it is possible to upgrade the weaponry. Although Unkilled offers a single-player experience exclusively, it makes up for it with the available multiplicity of short story-based missions. The game uses the touch-based controls taken from Dead Trigger 2. The visuals are advanced, for the creators implemented soft shadows, lighting reflections, as well as complex particle effects.
