A dark fantasy tactical RPG with turn-based combat created by Polish developer Jujubee. In Spellcrafter you assume the role of a hero representing one of three playable classes (Human, Necromancer, or Elf), and set out on a journey to explore a world full of magic. On your way you get to earn experience and gold, interact with non-player characters, and undertake various missions that often put you up against tough moral decisions. The game features isometric view, and as you play you gradually expand your team by recruiting heroes you encounter on the way, each of them providing your team with unique abilities. The game’s turn-based combat emphasizes both tactical depth and strategic elements. Spellcrafter’s characteristic feature is its unique system of spell casting. In order to cast a spell you have draw a specific pattern on the screen – the quicker and more accurate you are the more powerful the spell is.
Dungeon Hunter 5 (WP)
RPG 12 March 2015
The fifth major installment of the popular mobile action RPG series by Gameloft. The story of Dungeon Hunter 5 is a direct continuation of that from its predecessor. Even though the forces of darkness have been stopped, glory days of the kingdom of Valenthia are at an end. Trade routes are overrun by bandits, while demons appear in swamps to create a grand undead army with the warriors who rise from the grave. In the game, we assume the role of a bounty hunter who tries to restore order in the kingdom, at least partially. The gameplay mechanics haven’t been significantly changed and are still rooted in the hack ‘n’ slash genre. The protagonist’s tasks include performing subsequent quests that involve exploration of the kingdom, fighting hordes of monsters, gathering treasures, and developing skills with the obtained experience. The equipment system now lets us destroy items to acquire raw materials needed to enhance weapons.
Dragon Mania Legends (WP)
RPG 07 January 2015
A role-playing game with economic strategy elements by Gameloft. The production is heavily inspired by the Pokemon franchise—it is set on the Dragonlandia Island, and your task is to collect over 300 species of dragons and develop their skills. As the game progresses, they get stronger and more resilient, and also learn special attacks. After such preparations, you can use the dragons in arena battles or in duels against other players from better leagues. Dragon Mania Legends also allows you to have your own dragon island, where you can erect buildings in exchange for the money you earn during battles. Interestingly, you also can visit other people's islands and trade gifts, as well as talk to others via the in-game chat. The game utilizes a free-to-play model with microtransactions; you can pay for e.g. speeding up the development of your dragons.
Spectral Souls: Resurrection of the Ethereal Empire (WP)
RPG 07 March 2013
RPG 24 December 2015
FallenSouls is a free-to-play mobile MMORPG. The game takes us to a fantasy world threatened by the army of darkness. Our task is to face the forces of evil and defeat the army's powerful leader. We begin with the character creation, choosing from three available races (human, orc, undead) and three classes (warrior, guardian, mage). Gameplay focuses on world exploration, character progression, and turn-based combat. In combat, we can use various special abilities that we will unlock as we play along with regular attack. We do not have to play alone. There is nothing to stop us from creating parties with other players and using summons when facing a more powerful enemy. We will also have to manage our stronghold. We can expand and upgrade it, and have to defend it from various enemies and other players.
Doom & Destiny Advanced (WP)
RPG 03 August 2015
A light-hearted jRPG developed for mobile platforms. Doom & Destiny Advanced is a prequel, telling a story that takes place sometime before the events from the first installment, but maintains a similar theme. Four nerdy friends teleport to a fantasy universe, where they have to stop a ruthless businessman Solomon Steele, who wants to take over the world using his start-up. The player has the opportunity to visit hundreds of varied locations and complete numerous story and side quests. The battle system is turn based and is visibly inspired by the earlier installments of the Final Fantasy series. Doom & Destiny Advanced offers a complex character development system with 15 character classes (including warrior, mage, thief, cook), various outfits, and over 150 special skills. Aside from the single player mode, the game includes a crossplatform multiplayer module. It is split between a coop mode that allows the players to complete the single player campaign as a team and a special PvP mode in which the players clash on a special Arena.
