GameCube is the 6th generation console from Nintendo and a successor to Nintendo 64. It was released on November 18th, 2001 in North America and May 3rd, 2002 in Europe. The heritage of the poor predecessor and lack of clearly specified target (it was hard to tell whether the console was primarily for core gamers or for whole families) resulted in a weak position of GameCube on the market. It was succeeded by Wii in 2006.

The Sims enables the player to take care of a virtual family of Sims. During the game the player must take care of various needs of his characters – starting with typically physiological ones (eating, toilet, hygiene etc.), through social relations, to career.
