The third installment in a highly popular action-RPG franchise, created and developed by Blizzard Entertainment. Diablo III takes players back to the world of Sanctuary, where they have to stand up to forces of evil. The story is set 10 years after the events of the second game. Tristram cathedral gets hit by a mysterious comet, whose impact awakens the armies of Hell. Diablo III features new character classes and a modified character progression system. Blizzard aimed for a further increase of combat dynamics, implementation of extensive social features, as well as atmospheric audiovisuals.

Diablo III: Reaper of Souls is the first expansion pack for the best-selling action RPG game, Diablo III. The add-on created by the Blizzard Entertainment’s development team has added a fifth act to the main campaign, in which Malthael, the Angel of Death, is determined to put an end to the war between celestial beings and demons; the Black Stone binding Diablo’s soul is supposed to help him achieve this goal. The expansion also introduces a new playable character – Crusader – and raises the limit of character’s experience level to 70. In addition, the creators decided to modify the loot system; now we find it less often, but it is more valuable and better suited to a particular hero. Some changes have also been introduced to the visuals, making them much darker than in the original version of the game.
XCOM: Enemy Unknown (X360)

A science-fiction turn-based strategy game that came out as a reboot of the cult series, UFO: Enemy Unknown, launched back in 1994 by Microprose. This new title was created by Firaxis Games, a studio founded by Sid Meier. The story of XCOM: Enemy Unknown does not follow any of the plotlines started by its predecessors. Instead, it tells a new story of the war between humans and an aggressive alien race. In order to protect our planet from the invaders a special organization called X-COM was created, with you as its commander throughout the game. The gameplay features two main aspects. In the strategic mode you plan your next move, complete research and develop technology, as well as manufacture gear and weapons – all this in real time. When it comes to skirmishes with the aliens, combat is turn-based. Most missions are procedurally generated, which relates to greater replayability. Battles are presented in full 3D, and the game’s engine allows for full destruction of environment.
The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing (X360)
A role-playing game with tower defense elements by indie studio Neocore Games. The protagonist is the son son of the famous Professor Abraham Van Helsing (the vampire hunter from Bram Stoker's novel), who is asked by his father to travel to Eastern Europe to free the people of Borgovia from the tyranny of the mad scientist Fulmigati. When he's fighting hordes of rats, golbins, and mechanical soldiers, he's supported by Borgovia's mythical creatures. The gameplay is typical for a hack'n'slash game with dynamic battle sequences and isometric view. The Incresible Adventures of Van Helsing features several kinds of singleplayer and multiplayer modes.

An action RPG developed by Supergiant Games - a studio established by Amir Rao and Gavin Simon, who both are former employees of Electronic Arts. In the game, a player assumes the role of a hero named Kidd, who one day wakes up in his bed drifting amongst the remains of the world, in which he used to live before. The young lad embarks on a journey to find other survivors and provide them with shelter. The world of Bastion that is drifting through the void is not at all a safe place - it crawls with monsters that our hero has to face using an elaborate arsenal of both close combat and ranged weapons. Moreover, since particular locations literally are hanging in mid-air, a moment of distraction might result in Kidd falling off the map. The game described herein stands out from similar productions because of its method of delivering the story (the actions of the main protagonist are described in real time by a narrator) and the original visuals featuring colorful, hand painted, and highly interactive sceneries. Interestingly enough, in spite of the fairytale-like style of the game, Bastion tells a grim story about the apocalypse. The game has been recognized with many prestigious awards.

A very well-made hack-and-slash game, created by a small studio Runic Games, whose members contributed to such productions as Hellgate London, Mythos or the Diablo franchise. The story begins in the eponymous village of Torchlight, under which large deposits of a magical ore called ember have been discovered. However, the sudden mining boom resulted in another discovery, this time of a great evil lurking underground. This is where the protagonist steps in. You choose from three character classes: Alchemist, Destroyer and Vanquisher. Every class has branched development options and a unique fighting style. The character is accompanied by an animal follower, which helps you with fighting and can carry your items. Like a proper RPG, Torchlight features dynamic real-time combat utilizing the isometric view. The defeated foes drop large quantities of money and useful items, which can be equipped by the protagonist. The visuals are similar to those of Diablo III, although they are slightly more “sugary.”
How to Survive (X360)

An action-adventure game with role-playing elements by indie studio EKO software. The main story campaign is set in an archipelago of four small islands near the coast of Columbia. This seemingly idyllic place turns out to be infested with ravenous zombies. The protagonists (you can choose from Abby, Jack or Kenji) need to rely on their determination and survival skills in this hostile environment. The gameplay of How to Survive features an open structure, giving you much freedom in the way you decide to complete the quests. There is a strong focus on survival aspects — the characters need to gather food and water, and also rest between battles with the undead. A simple crafting system allows you to create your own armor and useful items.
XCOM: Enemy Within (X360)

First huge add-on to the tactical strategy game, XCOM: Enemy Unknown, released in 2012. Created by the developer team at Firaxis Games, the expansion introduces many new features to basic game. One of the most important among them is a new resource – meld, a type of microscopic, robotic organisms that can modify human genotype. This allows humans to improve their body and even integrate mechanical parts into themselves. The add-on introduces a new soldier class as well – Mec Trooper - along with a special building to “produce” him, two types of aliens (Seeker and Mechtoid) and a new human organization, EXALT, trying to use alien technology to conquer the world. There are also new types of weapons, skills, and maps for multiplayer matches.
Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light (X360)

An unusual spin-off to the legendary Tomb Raider series. The game was developed by Crystal Dynamics - the creators of the franchise's latest installments. The game follows the adventures of a beautiful female archeologist and her friend - a Mayan warrior by the name of Totec. The characters set out for a journey, searching for a mysterious artifact known as Mirror of Smoke, which is to be used against the evil Xolotl, who has gained the power to control other spirits. Contrary to the third-person perspective the Tomb Raider games are usually played in, the spin-off is an isometric game resembling hack'n'slash titles in this aspect. The gameplay focuses on arcade elements and combat sequences, in which the player encounters hordes of ghosts - a special emphasis was placed on cooperation. The two characters have different abilities, therefore, close cooperation is the key to success. However, it is also worth mentioning that the game features elements which could be considered hallmarks of the Tomb Raider series as well, such as exploration of tombs and catacombs.

Rainbow Moon (X360)
A fantasy turn-based jRPG developed by Hong Kong studio SideQuest Studios. The protagonist is a young man, who, during a fight with his arch-enemy, is transported via a special portal to Rainbow Moon, which is being terrorized by monsters. His task is to gain the trust of the world's inhabitants, save Rainbow Moon, and return home. In terms of mechanics, the game is based on classic jRPG productions. The game features an isometric point of view, and turn-based combat takes place on separate arenas divided into fields. Apart from the main story campaign, there are also many side quests to complete and dungeons to explore. Additional features include a multitude of weapons, a wide range of spells, and equipment you can mod with the items you find.
