Devil May Cry HD Collection is a compilation of remastered versions of the first three versions of the Devil May Cry series, which debuted on PlayStation 2. The set developed by Capcom was initially released only on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, but after years it was also released on PCs and Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Story

The main character of the games included in the Devil May Cry HD Collection is Dante, or half a man, half a demon, who fights the forces of darkness. In the first Devil May Cry his task is to defeat Mundus (the ruler of the underground world). In the second part of the series, the heros has to face the businessman Arius, who plans to take over the world with the resurrection of one of the demons; the protagonist is helped by the warrior Lucia, who is the second playable character. The action Devil May Cry 3 is set before the events presented in the first part of the cycle; the player has the opportunity to learn more about Dante's past and his conflict with his brother Vergel.

Mechanics

The productions included in the release on the PC platform, PS4, etc. Devil May Cry HD Collection represents a species of slashers. Each of these titles is divided into missions, where we deal primarily with the exploration of different locations (Devil May Cry takes us to the fictional island of Mallet, where gothic buildings dominate; Devil May Cry 2 takes place in a modern metropolis; while the places we travel in Devil May Cry 3, combine the best features of locations prepared for both earlier games) and on the fight against enemies.

On our way we face both smaller enemies (we are talking about masks from hell) and powerful bosses, whose overcoming requires not only perfect reflex and skillful fingers, but also mastering the secrets of an extensive combat system. The clashes take place in real time, and Dante confronts enemies with a sword and two pistols - a wide range of combo launchers allow you to lead out spectacular attacks.

When the special indicator is charged, the heros can turn into a demon, wreaking havoc in the ranks of the enemy. In addition, the struggle to Devil May Cry 3 The Swordmaster technique is based on precise sword cuts, Royal Guard is used in defense, while Gunslinger is the most effective in offense.

During the game we observe the action from film shots - the series is based on prerendered backgrounds with a static camera. The above described elements of the game are complemented by simple platform segments and uncomplicated riddles based primarily on searching for objects. It is worth remembering that our actions are constantly watched over by the scoring system; the grades awarded to us are determined by the time of completion of a particular stage, the style of the fight, the objects used and the damage suffered.

Technical issues

For Devil May Cry HD Collection, the authors refreshed the graphics - while on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 all games work at 720p resolution, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One owners can enjoy them in 1080p quality, while PC users can run each element of the compilation in 4K mode. Regardless of the platform Devil May Cry HD Collection operates in sixty frames per second.
