Warsaw-based Mirage Interactive studio is known mainly for first person shootings (e.g. Mortyr 2: For Ever), but it has also produced productions from other genres. Ultimate 8 Ball is an attempt to challenge a sports simulation.

The game allows you to play the role of a billiard player and face 16 computer-controlled artificial intelligence opponents representing different levels of sophistication. Just like in real billiards, the players' task is to pocket balls using a stick and simple rules of physics of movement.

The creators prepared 14 variants of the game - from classic billiards with eight balls, through its more complicated variations, to tricks and dexterity tests. The competition takes place on 10 tables, each of which is located in a different-looking room (including a bar and a luxury apartment).

In comparison to similar products Ultimate 8 Ball stands out above all by its realism. The physics model used in the game reflects the actual behaviour of the balls. Players must therefore control not only the direction of the rebound, but also parameters such as force, angle and place of impact.

The Ultimate 8 Ball's audio-visual setting is no different from competitive titles from the end of the last century. The graphic engine generates 3D images in real time. Noteworthy is the soundtrack with musical motifs adapted to the climate of the location where billiard matches are played.
