Unusual flight simulator, created by MicroProse in 1993. The game focuses on the title fight of air fighters - what distinguishes this product from many similar products is a certain amount of fantasy with which the authors approached the subject. In Dogfight: 80 Years of Aerial Warfare, a machine that remembers World War I and a state-of-the-art jet can stand in front of each other.

The game allows you to sit at the controls of as many as twelve different fighters, which reigned in the sky during several armed conflicts in the twentieth century. The First World War is represented by the planes Sopwith Camel and Fokker DR1, the second MKII Supermarine Spitfire and Messerschmitt Bf109E. F-4J Phantom and MiG-21F come from the Vietnamese crisis, while MiG-15 and F-86E Sabre come from Korea. The list is closed by the following machines: Sea Harrier FRS.1, Mirage IIIE (Falkland War), F16A Fighting Falcon and MiG-23S Flogger (Israeli-Arab conflict).

There are three gameplay modes available in Dogfight. The first one allows you to fly freely on any machine in any of the six historical periods. The second variant is a predefined mission, allowing to perform predefined tasks, with two scenarios available for each conflict, different for each aircraft. The last, by far the most interesting mode, allows you to sit at the controls of one of the fighters and face any number of enemy pilots. Interestingly, there are no artificial restrictions here, which is why the three-plane Fokker can try his luck in the fight against three modern jets.

Dogfight offers not very impressive vector graphics, but the possibility of observing events in the sky from as many as eight different cameras deserves attention. The flight model prepared by the creators of the game is not too realistic, however, we still have to deal with a full-fledged simulator, which requires much more attention from the user than skill-based shooting. Suffice it to say that the product forces the player to learn the correct take-off and landing - some of the options responsible for realism can be eliminated and thus make the game easier.
