BioShock 2: Minerva's Den

An official DLC that expands the plot of the 2010’s BioShock 2 by 2K Games. The action of the expansion takes place at the same time as the events of the original. In Minerva’s Den, we assume the role of a completely new character, who joined forces with the original’s Brigid Tenenbaum, and visit previously unknown locations in the underwater city of Rapture, uncovering mysteries of its new governor and filling up some missing pieces of the plot of BioShock 2. The add-on features new kinds of weapons and plasmids as well as improved flying robots that now are now powerfully armed. We also encounter new enemies, including the previously unused variant of Big Daddy, and six new Little Sisters that can be either rescued or killed. The gameplay is focused solely on the single player mode and doesn’t introduce any novelties to the multiplayer.

This is BioShock 2 expansion pack.

Minerva’s Den is the first single player DLC for BioShock 2 for PC / Windows, a very well-received sequel of the action game with RPG elements. The expansion was developed by 2K Marin, the creator of the vanilla game.

Plot

The plot of Minerva’s Den takes place in parallel with that of the vanilla game. We assume the role of a completely new character who joined forces with Brigid Tenenbaum whom we know from BioShock. Thanks to this, we uncover further mysteries of Rapture’s governess and learn several previously unknown details about this underwater city’s history. The plot has a familiar style and thus perfectly complements the appropriately large dose of gameplay.

Although the action still takes place in the underwater city of Rapture, we visit new areas, including the previously unknown region called Rapture Central Computing where we uncover dark secrets of the place. This DLC’s purpose is to fill all the plot holes that remained after the climax of BioShock 2. While playing, we will meet six new Little Sister. Yet again, we can decide whether to rescue or harvest them.

Mechanics

We are given completely new kinds of weapons and plasmids, and the Security Bots that we could hack can now fire deadly rockets instead of a regular machine gun. We will also meet new sorts of enemies, including the previously unused variant of the Big Daddy.

The expansion is a real treat for the owners of BioShock 2 because it allows the players to spend more time in Rapture and learn a few interesting pieces of information about the city. Since the gameplay is focused solely on the single player mode, the fans of multiplayer matches won’t find anything new in it. The graphics also remained the same and still look beautiful.
