Final Horizon, released on PSV and PS4, is a tower defense strategy game. It was developed by Eiconic Games studio, developers of such titles as Total Recoil, Arctic Adventures: Polar's Puzzles or Brain Freeze.

Mechanics

We play as a commander whose task is to repel the attacks of successive waves of aliens. The aliens start this fight well equipped and besides the traditional infantry, we have to face, among others, helicopters and spider-like tanks. The opponents use such weapons as rockets or powerful lasers.

The basic rules of the gameplay don't deviate from the standards of the genre. The player must build defensive structures and watchtowers in such a way as to prevent opponents from entering the base. Every enemy killed gives us money, which we spend on constructing new objects and improving our existing ones. However, Final Horizon is more demanding than a typical tower defense. The enemy armies don't march obediently in a straight line. Instead, they are driven by a clever Artificial Intelligence that allows them to exploit any gap in our defense and take full advantage of the three-dimensional nature of maps.

Technical aspects

Final Horizon offers attractive graphics design. The authors took care not only of the high level of detail but also great animations of all the opponents. The aliens move in a truly alien way and react realistically to the damage they receive. For example, if a spider-like tank loses one of its legs, it starts moving less fluidly.
