Spellweaver for PC / Windows is trading card game set in a typical fantasy world, distributed as a free-to-play title. It has been created by independent Bulgarian studio Dream Reactor, established by experienced gamers sharing the same passion for card games. They decided to create a game they would like to play together.
Players can choose from six heroes, each with different skills and belonging to one of six varied play styles: Order, Wisdom, Nature, Corruption, Dominion, and Rage. They all start with one unique skill, but can gain additional ones through special shrines. Acquired skills can be use several times during a duel, which makes heroes a crucial part of gameplay.
Each play style is assigned to one of six factions, divided equally between Good and Evil. Each of them has their own backstory, hierarchy, and detailed objectives. Cards are similarly divided, allowing for numerous strategies that may, but don't necessarily have to, revolve around force. Fights are turn-based, but interestingly, we can use some of the spells and many battle tricks during opponent’s move. While the creators prepared a single player campaign, it is the multiplayer mode, where we can attend various tournaments and slowly climb up online rankings, that offers the most fun.
Spellweaver has been created in accordance with the classic rules of genre and following the sentence: “easy to learn – difficult to master”. Authors stressed out the game's strategic aspects and tactical depth. A lot of work has been put into designing the visuals that represent the style typical of the fantasy genre. It is worth noting that Spellweaver for PC / Windows is continuously updated by its creators, introducing new sets of cards and small fixes to game mechanics, based on feedback from the players.
