Lords of Waterdeep is a turn-based strategy game embedded in the fantastic universe of Dungeons & Dragons, which is an adaptation of the valued and awarded board game of the same title. The original by Peter Lee and Rodney Thompson appeared on the market in 2012 by Wizards of the Coast. Its electronic adaptation to PC, AND and iOS is the responsibility of Playdek studio, which has many successful conversions of board games and card games of the world's leading publishers.

The action of the game is set in the title city of Waterdeep - a fictional city of the world of Forgotten Realms, also known as the City of Glamour. Despite its splendour, this place has long been an arena for political intrigue and the dark interests of influential citizens. The champions of the city are secretly fighting for control of the city, while the title lords, in which the roles are played by players. Their task will be to gain as much influence and power as possible, while at the same time taking care of the interests of the city and its inhabitants.

The game takes place in rounds and is intended for a maximum of five players, who represent successive factions, known from the universe of Forgotten Realms. The way to achieve the goal is to send special agents to different corners of the city, who will take care of treasure gathering, recruitment of adventurers and, if necessary, weaken the opponent with skillful intrigue. At the beginning of the game, the range of available options is relatively small, but thanks to investments and new buildings, players successively open up a number of previously unavailable opportunities and ways of operating. For those unfamiliar with the original, board version of the game, the developers have prepared a detailed tutorial, which will allow you to quickly master the secrets of the game.

In Lords of Waterdeep we can play alone, competing against opponents led by AI. At the heart of the game, however, is multiplayer fun, which can take place in several different modes. The authors have made available both the offline variant (in which we pass the tablet to the next player after each move) and the option of playing over the Internet (in asynchronous mode or in real time). In addition to the iOS Game Center, access to network functions also requires the creation of a special account on the manufacturer's website - Playdek.
