Grand Kingdom is a classic 2D jRPG game with a turn-based combat system focused on strategic planning. The game was developed by Spike Chunsoft and MonochromeCorp. The development team was led by Tomohiko Deguchi, who also worked on Grand Knights History. Both works of the author share many common features, however, Grand Kingdom can be called an informal sequel.

Plot

Grand Kingdom takes us to the classic fantasy world, full of magic and heroic deeds. The continent on which the action takes place is divided between four opposing factions. We are leaders of a mercenary unit and over time we choose which of the powers participating in the conflict we want to support. The story is presented in the form of fully voiced animated cut-scenes, realized in the form known from visual novel games.

Mechanics

During the adventure, we manage a team of warriors - we choose their equipment and determine the direction of development. The battles use a turn-based combat system and are presented in 2D, the perspective known from side-scroll games. During the fight, players need to plan their moves and think strategically, as well as use various special skills and combos.

Game modes

Grand Kingdom also offers a multiplayer mode, allowing for cooperation fun and competition. Grand Kingdoms also allows PlayStation 4 and PS Vita owners to play together and share their saved game status between the two versions of the title.

Technical aspects

Grand Kingdom is characterized by exceptionally pleasant 2D graphics which are accompanied by an equally refined soundtrack.
